Morfologia e sistematica de Sonesimia Young, 1977 (Homoptera, cicadellidae, cicadellinae)

Abstract

Resumo: A morfologia de Sonesimia grossa ( Signoret, 1854) ( Homoptera, Cicadellidae, Cicadellinae) e a sistemática de Sonesimia Young, 1977 são apresentadas. É feito um estudo detalhado das estruturas externas e de algumas internas, tendo como base a espécie-tipo de Sonesimia ( S. grossa), bem como da genitália masculina e feminina, para todas as espécies. Os seguintes caracteres ou estruturas foram considerados importantes para a determinação das espécies: edeago e seu(s) processo(s); sétimo esterno da fêmea; faixas e/ou manchas na cabeça e pronoto; relação largura da cabeça x largura do pronoto; posição dos ocelos; forma da margem anterior da cabeça; pontuações e/ou estrias transversais no pronoto; presença de pontuações na superfície das tégminas; forma da margem costal e largura das tégminas. Já os gonocoxitos e as válvulas oito e nove ( sensu KUKALOVÁ-PECK, 1992) e a gonoplaca (sensu SCUDDER, 1961) não apresentaram modificações interespecíficas, parecendo ser úteis, taxonomicamente, apenas em nível genérico. O gênero e as seis espécies nele atualmente incluídas são descritos. Dados de distribuição geográfica e uma chave para identificação das espécies são fornecidos. Com base neste estudo observou-se que, as espécies de Sonesimia, formam dois grupos distintos. O gênero provavelmente, inclui apenas três espécies; S. grossa, S. rafaeli Cavichioli & Sakakibara, 1984 e S. cleusae Cavichioli & Sakakibara, 1984. As demais, S. grandis ( Walker, 1851); S. chinai ( Costa-Lima, 1963) e S. dimidiata Young, 1977 possivelmente pertencem a outro gênero.

Abstract: The morphology of Sonesimia grossa ( Signoret, 1854) ( Homoptera, Cicadellidae, Cicadellinae) and the systematics of Sonesimia Young, 1977 are analysed. A detailed study of outer and some inner structures of the type-species of Sonesimia ( S. grossa) including the male and female genitalia are presented. The following characters or structures proved to be useful for determination of the species: aedeagus and its processe(s); seventh sternum of female; strips and/or spots on the head and pronotum; relation between width of head and width of pronotum; position of ocelli; shape of head fore margin; punctuations and/or tranversal striations on pronotum; punctuations on surface of forewing; shape of costal margin and width of forewings. On the other hand, the eighth and nineth gonocoxites and valvulae, ( sensu KUKALOVA-PECK, 1992) and the gonoplac ( sensu SCUDDER, 1961) do not present interespecific modifications. These structures seem to be taxonomically useful only at the generic level. The genus and its six species are described. Biogeographical data and a key to identification of the species are provided. This study showed that the species of Sonesimia form two distinct groups. The genus probably includes only three species: S. grossa, S. rafaeli Cavichioli & Sakakibara, 1984 and S. cleusae Cavichioli & Sakakibara, 1984. The remaining species, S. grandis ( Walker, 1851), S. chinai ( Costa-Lima, 1963) and S. dimidiata Young, 1977, possibly belong to another genus.
