Abstract: This dissertation was developed within the Professional Master's Program in Philosophy - PROF-FILO - with the aim of exploring the possibility of teaching philosophy through the comparison of philosophical texts, in order to promote the aim students' ability to recognize and understand three basic elements that make up philosophical texts: problem, thesis, and argument. The foundation of this practice is centered on the logical and historical reading of texts and the study of what these three concepts that make up a philosophical text are. As an example and practical application of our hypothesis, we worked on the problem of the mind in non-human animals by comparing the texts of philosophers Descartes and Searle, contrasting their theses, and comparing the arguments they used. This teaching proposal was carried out with public school students in Paraná who were in the final years of high school, through in-person meetings and online activities. We conducted two questionnaires about the texts, before and after the practice, as a data collection method and to assess the students' comprehension of the texts, analyzing whether there were indeed changes in their ability to understand a philosophical text through its reading and comparison with other texts.
