This research presents a parallel between neuroscience and music education. It intends to investigate, through bibliographic research, the relationship between learning music and the human mirror neuron system. Referential of studies on this topic are scarce and it is still poorly addressed and therefore lacks a few number of studies has been develop about it. The mirror neuron is part of a neurons classes discovered in the mid 1990s, which has as its main functions encode motor actions, gestures, facial expressions and mirror in the brain of the observer action, in a kind of imitation mental. These nerve cells are fundamental in the learning process by imitation, in addition to being related to cognitive processes of high level, as the empathy. We also present themselves in the body of this work some music education methodologies that prioritize the imitation as teaching tool. Finally, it analyzes the relationship between the mirror neuron system and musical learning througher the presentation of proposals for the musical pedagogies, according to scholars of the area as Addessi and Balthazar and Freire. It is perceived througher of this research that musical education can be reconsidered in the light of neuroscience and it proves also that the imitation is effective in the learning process of music. Therefore this link between these two areas could generate benefits to educators and students
