A presença dos castrati na História da Música (séculos XVII-XVIII) : um estudo analítico sobre peças musicais compostas para a interpretação de Senesino, Caffarelli e Farinelli

Abstract

Resumo : A história da música vocal na Europa ocidental entre os séculos XVII-XVIII foi influenciada pelos castrati, cantores que eram submetidos à cirurgia de castração. Um grande número de meninos foi submetido à operação, mas apenas alguns se tornaram profissionais de canto. Senesino, Farinelli e Caffarelli foram alguns dos nomes mais conhecidos no século XVIII. O repertório que os três eram desafiados a cantar levantam algumas questões com relação ao virtuosismo desses cantores. É objetivo geral desta pesquisa ponderar sobre o nível técnico dos três. É objetivo específico da pesquisa traçar reflexões, apoiada por escritos acadêmicos recentes, sobre o assunto. O método de trabalho inclui pesquisa bibliográfica juntamente com a análise e comparação de peças executadas pelos castrati no século XVIII

Abstract : A history of vocal music in Western Europe between the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries was influenced by castrati, singers who underwent castration surgery. A large number of boys underwent the operation, but only a few became singing professionals. Senesino, Caffarelli and Farinelli were some of the most important names of the eighteenth century. The repertoire that the tree were challenged to sing bring some questions about their virtuosity. The general objective of the research is reflecting about the technical level of them. The specific objective is tracing reflections, supported by recent academic writings, on the subject. The method includes bibliographic research associated with the analysis and comparison of musical pieces performed by castrati in the eighteenth century.
