Psycho Carnival : 20 anos de resistência

Abstract

Resumo : Este trabalho apresenta um registro histórico e uma análise crítica do Psycho Carnival, festival que ocorre durante o Carnaval de Curitiba, e suas reverberações mundo afora. É considerado um dos principais do psychobilly, subgênero do rock and roll que se caracteriza, dentre outros, por rockabilly, punk rock e histórias de horror. O festival amplia as possibilidades culturais e musicais em uma cidade multiétnica, fazendo um contraponto com a música típica do Carnaval brasileiro, que traz uma maior influência da música de matriz africana. A sonoridade detém suas particularidades quanto às técnicas de execução, timbres e aspectos composicionais. Para realizar a pesquisa, foi levado em conta conceitos como psychobilly, cena musical, interculturalidade dentre outros, que serviram de alicerce para o levantamento de fontes bibliográficas e etnográficas como Néstor Garcia Canclini, Paul Friedlander e Alan Merrian, observando a participação de atrações internacionais junto aos grupos locais. Do ponto de vista metodológico, esse estudo apresenta uma revisão da literatura específica, entrevistas com os principais agentes do tema, análises de gravações e a investigação de eventos relacionados aos fatores que o caracterizam

Abstract: This paper presents a historical record and a critical analysis of psycho carnival, a festival that takes place during the Curitiba Carnival, and its reverberations around the world. It is considered biggest festival of latin american psychobilly, a subgenre of rock and roll characterized among others by rockabilly, punk rock and horror stories. This festival expands the cultural and musical possibilities in a multiethnic city, contraposing the typical style of Carnival music that has a greater influence of music from african origin. The sonority has its peculiarities regarding the techniques of performance, tones and compositional aspects. To conduct the research, it was taken into account concepts such as psychobilly, musical scene, interculturality among others, which served as the foundation for the survey of bibliographic and ethnographic sources such as Néstor Garcia Canclini, Paul Friedlander and Alan Merrian, observing the participation of international attractions with local bands. From the methodological point of view, this study presents a review of the specific literature, interviews with the main agents of the theme, analysis of recordings and the investigation of events in Brazil related to the factors that characterize it
