Um estudo de caso sobre a influência do ambiente urbano no processo de recebimento dos hinos do Santo Daime

Abstract

Resumo : O Santo Daime é uma prática religiosa fundada por Raimundo Irineu no meio da floresta amazônica do Brasil, durante a década de 1930. Ele e seus seguidores produziram e seguem produzindo uma vasta coleção de hinos que são executados durante as cerimônias dessa religião. Os membros do Santo Daime acreditam que os hinos não são compostos, mas, sim, recebidos de fontes espirituais, conferindo a eles o aspecto de escritura sagrada. Desde a sua criação, essa prática religiosa mudou e se adaptou a ambientes muito diferentes das florestas nas quais foi fundada. Esta monografia é o relatório de um estudo de caso. O objetivo deste estudo foi descobrir de que forma opera a influência dos contextos culturais, sociais e tecnológicos do ambiente urbano no processo de criação e produção dos hinos. Para isso, analisei uma série de hinos recebidos pelo dirigente de um centro espiritual do Santo Daime em Curitiba. Foram realizadas transcrições dos sons, observações das performances e uma entrevista com o autor dos hinos. Essas informações foram comparadas com hinos antigos e pesquisas de outros autores sobre o tema

Abstract : Santo Daime is a syncretic religion founded by Raimundo Irineu Serra among the Brazilian Amazon Rainforest, in the 30s. He and his followers created, and keep on creating, an immense hymns collection executed during the rituals of this religion. The neophytes of this religion believe that the hymns are not composed, but that they are received from spiritual sources. Thus, they conceive to the hymns a sacred scripture role. Since its creation, Santo Daime changed and adapted to very different environments from the ones where it once started. This monography is a report about a comparative case study, on which the objective was to uncover on what way the influence of the modern culture, society and technology acts on the creative process of the hymns. To achieve that, I analyzed a series of hymns received by the leader of a Santo Daime spiritual center located at Curitiba. Transcriptions of the sounds, observations of the performances and an interview with the author were compared with older hymns and researches on the subject
