Os internos da Casa do Pequeno Jornaleiro : memórias sensíveis sobre infância e institucionalização em Curitiba

Abstract

Resumo: A Casa do Pequeno Jornaleiro de Curitiba foi uma instituição criada para atender crianças e adolescentes pobres, com foco na assistência e na educação através do trabalho. Fundada em 1942 pela primeira-dama do Paraná Dona Anita Ribas, a CAPEJO abrigou centenas de meninos que realizavam, como atividade moralizadora e educativa, a venda de jornais e revistas pelas ruas da capital paranaense. Esta tese busca investigar como homens que viveram parte de sua infância e adolescência na referida instituição, entre os anos de 1960 e 1980, relembram e relatam essa experiência em suas vidas. As fontes principais de análise foram as entrevistas realizadas com esses senhores e produzidas pela autora através da metodologia de História Oral. Este trabalho intenta, desta forma, perceber e analisar essas narrativas à luz das reflexões sobre História, Memória e História da Infância e Juventude. Para este percurso de investigação, buscou-se fundamentação teórica em autores referência dessas áreas, em especial Joël Candau, Michel Pollak, Alessandro Portelli e Susana Sosenski. Dividida em seis partes, a tese busca traçar um panorama acerca da estrutura física da instituição para, na sequência, se debruçar sobre as narrativas produzidas pelos entrevistados no que diz respeito a sua experiência de vida, dentro e fora da CAPEJO, com ênfase não só nas memórias difíceis e traumáticas que emergiram durante os relatos, mas também nos silêncios e ressentimentos que foram mobilizados por estes sujeitos no processo de rememoração do passado.

Abstract: The "Casa do Pequeno Jornaleiro de Curitiba" (CAPEJO) was an institution created to assist children and adolescents living in poverty and focused on assistance and education through work. Founded in 1942 by Paraná's first lady, Dona Anita Ribas, the CAPEJO hosted hundreds of boys that sold newspapers and magazines on the streets of Paraná's capital, Curitiba, as a moralizing and educational activity. This thesis aims to investigate how men that lived their childhood and adolescence in this institution, between 1960 and 1980, remember and report this experience in their lives. The main sources of analysis are the interviews conducted with these gentlemen and produced by the author through the methodology of Oral History. Therefore, this work intends to perceive and analyze these reports in the light of the reflections on History, Memory, and History of Childhood and Youth. For this line of investigation, a theoretical basis was sought in the works by authorities of these areas, especially Joël Candau, Michael Pollak, Alessandro Portelli, and Susana Sosenski. Divided into six parts, the thesis seeks to outline an overview of the physical structure of the institution, to then look into the narratives produced by the interviewees with regard to their life experience, inside and outside CAPEJO, with an emphasis not only on in the difficult and traumatic memories that emerged during the reports, but also in the silences and resentments that were mobilized by these subjects in the process of remembering the past.
