Resumo: A Província Ígnea Paraná-Etendeka (PIPE) é considerada resultado do maior evento magmático do Cretáceo Inferior (ca. 134 Ma). Abstract: The Paraná-Etendeka Igneous Province (PIPE) is considered the result of the largest magmatic event of the Early Cretaceous (ca. 134 Ma). It predates the fragmentation of the southern portion of the Gondwana continent and the opening of the South Atlantic Ocean. As with other igneous provinces generated in rift zones, the main mechanism of this magmatic event is fissure volcanism, in which magma ascends to the surface through zones of fractures and faults parallel to the axis of extension, crossing thick layers of regional rock (paleozoic sedimentary sequence of the Paraná Basin, in this study). Large basaltic igneous provinces are not considered closed systems, and the interaction that these massive outpourings had with local environmental conditions must be taken into account. Attention is still needed for these deposits, as they are key to better understanding the Serra Geral volcanism, its complexity, and its interaction with the paleoenvironment. In addition, volcaniclastic deposits may be of economic interest as they can be the reservoir rock for important hydrocarbon reserves. The present dissertation is focused on the occurrences of volcaniclastic rocks observed in the region located between the municipalities of Saudade do Iguaçu, Coronel Vivida, and Itapejara d'Oeste, in the state of Paraná. These deposits are intercalated with basalt and andesibasalt outcrops and are composed of breccias, tuff-breccias, and tuffs, including the vitriclastic hydro-tuff, which is composed of rounded to sub-rounded vitriclasts, with palagonitic glass shards, and often with phenocrysts, all immersed in a vitreous matrix. In the study region, they occur between the circular structures of Vista Alegre and Mariópolis, which are located between fault zones, with an E-W orientation in Vista Alegre and NW-SE in Mariópolis. By analyzing the grain size of these volcaniclastic rocks, it was possible to create maps of maximum dispersal distance for the pyroclasts, and thus relate these deposits to the circular structures in the study region.
