Corpo como lugar : desterritorialização e reterritorialização da semente da Capoeira Angola do mestre João Grande

Abstract

Resumo: A Capoeira Angola esculpiu nos corpos-capoeira uma cultura e um lugar do mundo, que vem sendo perpetuado pela potência da ancestralidade e da oralidade africana e afro-brasileira, que resistiu ao nefasto período escravocrata brasileiro e extrapolou fronteiras, nos apresentado uma forma de existir, onde o corpo/espírito é discurso, encantamento e comunhão com o Cosmo. A pesquisa aqui realizada é fruto de um tempo circular, onde a partir "das voltas que o mundo dá", acontecem os reencontros. Conhecer o Mestre João Grande, um dos mais antigos Mestre dessa arte ainda em atividade, em 1998, foi o que desencadeou a investigação que realizei sobre o processo de desterritorialização e reterritorialização dos saberes deste Mestre, que saiu do Brasil em 1990, e fixou residência em Nova York desde então. Buscar compreender estes processos e o estilo de Capoeira Angola que ele pratica, a partir da Plataforma Zoom, com o Projeto Jogando contra Corona, que teve início em abril de 2020 e segue até o presente, foi o mote da tese aqui realizada. A plataforma foi criada para dar suporte econômico e emocional/espiritual para o Mestre João Grande, o que beneficiou todos os participantes, uma comunidade internacional de capoeiristas, em virtude da necessidade de distanciamento social, devido à crise sanitária causada pela COVID-19. Como caminho metodológico, utilizei o meu próprio corpo-capoeira, como parte da investigação proposta, durante as aulas da Plataforma, que incluiu as aulas do referido Mestre e dos seus discípulos. Como parte do processo investigativo, utilizo imagens, fotografias relacionadas a capoeira, assim como a produção de imagens realizadas a partir da tela do computador durante a pesquisa. Este caminho metodológico, em conjunto com o referencial teórico que faz o diálogo entre Geografia Humanista Cultural e autores que tratam sobre Filosofia e Cultura Africana e Afro-brasileira, foi onde encontrei aporte para falar sobre a experiência virtual, somada as experiências presenciais anteriores com este Mestre. O que possibilitou abordar esta ginga ancestral, presente no corpo-capoeira como um lugar do mundo. Um corpo-lugar, que em diáspora, sustentado pela presença ancestral desde África, (re) cria a arte afrocêntrica da Capoeira Angola no Brasil, que hoje, encanta e atrai adeptos dos mais diversos lugares do mundo. A partir deste processo de investigação, ficou constatada a hipótese de que os saberes do Mestre João Grande tem sido reterritorializados no Brasil e em diversos países. O que permitiu mapear este estilo de Capoeira Angola, este corpo-capoeira/lugar/terreiro, que como se diz na cantiga de capoeira, "dá volta ao mundo".

Abstract: Capoeira Angola sculpted in capoeira-bodies a culture and a place in the world, which has been perpetuated by the power of African and Afro-Brazilian ancestry and orality, which resisted the disastrous period of Brazilian slavery and crossed borders, presenting us with a way of existing, where the body/spirit is discourse, enchantment and communion with the Cosmos. The research carried out here is the result of a circular time, where from the turns that the world takes, re-encounters take place. Meeting Master João Grande, one of the oldest Masters of this art still active, in 1998, was that triggered the investigation I carried out on the process of desterritorialization and reterritorialization of the knowledge of this Mestre, who left Brazil in 1990 and has settled in New York since then. Seeking to understand these processes and the style of Capoeira Angola that he practices, from the Zoom Platform, with the "Project Jogando contra Corona" that began in april 2020 and continues to the present, was the motto of the tesis carried out here. The platform was created to provide economic and emotional/spiritual support to Mestre João Grande, which benefited all participants, an international community of capoeiristas, due to the need for social distancing, due to the health crisis caused by Covid-19. As a methodological path, I used my own body-capoeira as part of the proposed investigation, during the Platform classes, which included the classes of the aforementioned Mestre and his disciples. As part of the investigative process, I use images, photographs related to capoeira, as well the production of images taken from the computer screen during the research. This methodological path, together with the theoretical framework that makes the dialogue between Cultural Humanistic Geography and authors who deal with African and Afro-Brazilian Philosophy and Culture, was where I found support to talk about the virtual experience, added to previous face-to-face experiences with this Master. What made it possible to approach this ancestral swing, present in the capoeira body as a place in the world. A body-place, which in diaspora, supported by the ancestral presence from Africa, (re)creates the Afrocentric art of Capoeira Angola in Brazil, which today, enchants and attracts fans in the most diverse places of the world. From this investigation process, it was found the hypothesis that the knowledge of Mestre João Grande has been reterritorialized in Brazil, and in different countries. What made it possible to map this style of Capoeira Angola, this body-capoeira/place/terreiro, which, as they say in the capoeira song "it goes around the world".
