Significado do adoecer para adolescentes em ambulatório de saúde mental

Abstract

Resumo: Esta dissertação objetiva analisar o processo de produção de significados/sentidos do adoecer para adolescentes em acompanhamento ambulatorial na área de saúde mental. Para tanto, parte da noção de que a identidade de um sujeito se constrói na relação com o outro tendo a linguagem como mediador simbólico. Como o significado socialmente partilhado de doença mental é gerador de exclusão, o trabalho procura apreender como se dá o processo de significação na vivência de adoecimento desses jovens e qual a representação que eles têm de si e do mundo. Selecionados oito jovens, foram analisados os discursos obtidos por meio dos grupos focais e de entrevistas. Constituíram o objeto de análise os processos interativos pelos quais esses adolescentes explicam, legitimam e negociam os significados para o seu adoecer. As falas demonstram que a identidade desses jovens é conformada pelas relações que eles estabelecem nos diferentes espaços de significação e pelas práticas terapêuticas.

Abstract: This dissertation aims at analyzing the process of producing significance/meaning of falling ill for adolescents under follow-up in the area of mental health, at outpatient clinics. Therefore, we start with the idea that a subject's identity is built through the relationship with another, having language as the symbolic mediator. Since the idea of mental disease (shared by society) generates exclusion, in this paper we try to grasp how the significance process takes place when those youngsters fall ill, and how they see themselves and the world. After having selected eight adolescents, we analyzed their reports obtained through focal groups and interviews. The object of such analysis were the interactive processes through which those adolescents explain, legitimate and negotiate meanings for their illness. Their answers show that those youngsters' identity is shaped by the relations they establish at the different areas of significance, and by therapeutic practices.
