A atitude fenomenológica em James Hillman : emotion e desdobramentos em obras posteriores

Abstract

Resumo: A presença de uma atitude fenomenológica em Emotion e seus desdobramentos em sua obra posterior reflete a preocupação de Hillman de não responder o "por que" ou a causa da psique, mas sim apreender a vivência da alma singular a partir de sua própria apresentação, daí a necessidade de buscar no método fenomenológico um meio de ficar com a própria imagem, ser "fiel à imagem". A Psicologia Arquetípica é um desdobramento crítico do pensamento junguiano clássico, entre as torções e reflexões propostas por Hillman evidencia-se a substituição de uma perspectiva metafísica sobre o arquétipo por uma fenomenologia arquetípica. Essa pesquisa pergunta-se sobre a presença da atitude fenomenológica em torno do pensamento e obra de James Hillman, em especial a partir de sua tese de doutoramento Emotion de 1959 e seus possíveis desdobramentos posteriores, em especial sua obra estrutural Re-vendo a Psicologia. O método utilizado será o de pesquisa bibliográfica com consulta as obras de James Hillman localizadas no período emergencial do 1º movimento de sua obra (1959-1970), em especial sua tese Emotion de 1959. A fim de apontar para os possíveis desdobramentos da atitude fenomenológica em sua obra posterior utilizaremos o 2º movimento de sua obra (1970- 1979), em especial Re-vendo a Psicologia, além de consulta a biografias, entrevistas, cartas e correspondências. Para os autores da fenomenologia consultaremos aquelas obras citadas por James Hillman em Emotion, em especial o Ideias de Husserl e a obra Esboço para uma teoria das Emoções de Sartre. Também utilizaremos comentadores da obra de James Hillman como Robert Avens, David Tacey Andrew Samuels, Roger Brooke, Gustavo Beck, Michael Sipiora etc. Além de consulta a periódicos e revistas ligadas aos centros de estudo e pesquisa em Psicologia Arquetípica principalmente nos Estados Unidos, especialmente o Jungian & Archetypal Studies do Pacifica Graduate Institute1. Em sua tese de doutoramento Hillman apropria-se da fenomenologia de Husserl e Sartre a sua maneira como meio para construção de sua própria atitude fenomenológica em relação ao fenômeno das emoções ao colocar todas as teorias sobre as emoções "entre parênteses" e perguntar-se sobre o significado das emoções a partir de si mesmas. Por outro lado, veremos que sua atitude fenomenológica incorporará elementos platônicos/médio platônicos, posteriormente neoplatônicos, na medida em que aproxima sua própria compreensão de fenomenologia da noção de conhecimento da "alma" de Tertuliano, assim como das noções de inconsciente coletivo e padrões arquetípicos da Psicologia Profunda de Jung.

Abstract: The presence of a phenomenological attitude in Emotion and its developments in his later work reflects Hillman's concern not to answer the "why" or the cause of the psyche, but rather to apprehend the experience of the singular soul from its own presentation, hence the need to seek in the phenomenological method a way to stay with one's own image, to be "faithful to the image". Archetypal Psychology is a critical unfolding of classical Jungian thought, among the twists and reflections proposed by Hillman it is evident the replacement of a metaphysical perspective on the archetype by an archetypal phenomenology. This research asks about the presence of the phenomenological attitude around the thought and work of James Hillman, especially from his doctoral thesis Emotion of 1959 and its possible subsequent developments, especially his structural work Re-Visiong Psychology. The method used will be the bibliographical research with consultation of the works of James Hillman located in the emergency period of the 1st movement of his work (1959-1970), especially his thesis Emotion of 1959. In order to point to the possible consequences of the phenomenological attitude in his later work we will use the 2nd movement of his work (1970-1979), especially Re-Visiong Psychology, in addition to consulting biographies, interviews, letters and correspondence. For phenomenology authors, we will consult those works cited by James Hillman in Emotion, especially Husserl's Ideas and Sartre's Sketch for a Theory of the Emotions. We will also use commentators on the work of James Hillman such as Robert Avens, David Tacey, Andrew Samuels, Roger Brooke, Gustavo Beck, Michael Sipiora etc. In addition to consulting periodicals and magazines linked to centers of study and research in Archetypal Psychology mainly in the United States, especially the Jungian & Archetypal Studies of the Pacifica Graduate Institute. In his doctoral thesis Hillman appropriates the phenomenology of Husserl and Sartre in his own way as a means for building his own phenomenological attitude towards the phenomenon of emotions by putting all theories about emotions "bracket out" and asking the meaning of emotions from themselves. On the other hand, we will see that his phenomenological attitude will incorporate Platonic/Middle Platonic elements, later Neoplatonic, insofar as he brings his own understanding of phenomenology closer to Tertullian's notion of knowledge of the "soul", as well as the notions of the collective unconscious and archetypal patterns from Jung's Depth Psychology.
