Abstract: Audiovisual narratives play an essential role in the construction meanings and show historical traces of gender hierarchies and pedagogies. This means that cinema and other video productions are a space for the production of knowledge, that is clearly delineated by identity, sexuality and by a set of practices and discourses that mark bodies outside of a gender binary, spececially in transgender women. The challenge lies in the intersection between these two fields through the object of study: the representation of the female body through the reception of transgender women. Through the life stories of transgender women, the dissertation aims to investigate the perceptions and translations of transgender women's memories about audiovisual narratives and their negotiations in the constitution of their identities. This process will be carried out through a theoretical-methodological protocol based on the oral history method articulated with the life history technique, based on the work of researchers such as Paul Thompson, Mônica Martinez and Luis Jesús Galindo Cáceres. With the research, the intention is to contribute to the creation of spaces for dialogue and the attempt to understand the transwomen participating in the study about the representation of their bodies in the audiovisual. In a world marked by different forms of violence, it is relevant to explore the roots and instruments of oppression, in addition to reflecting on how this profile of women thinks, about which audiovisual processes and strategies they negotiate and how they build their relationships with narratives on a daily basis. The dissertation therefore suggests the richness found in the narratives and voices of transgender women. The results show that transgender women articulate in their reports the representation of the female body in media and audiovisual productions, which is transmitted into their daily lives and marked by the construction of meanings or instructions about their identity.
