Abstract: This research is based upon the study of lyrical singing, and focuses on the pedagogical materials (didactic works, books) used in the practice of this modality of musical learning. The issue that guides the realization of this research takes into consideration the challenges of singing learning, in special vocal technique, and the difficulties faced by singers in terms of understanding and mentally representing the vocal apparatus and its functional behavior. The theoretical foundation begins with an analysis of the specificities of singing teaching and a review on the use of musical practice strategies. The general objective is to collect data about works related to lyrical singing teaching, those that are indicated by teachers, and analyze the most mentioned work from the perspective of the study of musical learning strategies. To reach the aim of this study, a hybrid, qualitative and quantitative methodology was defined, in which the first part consisted of a survey with singing teachers, about works used in the context of lyrical singing teaching, in the cities of Curitiba and Maringa; the second part included a content analysis of the teachers most mentioned work: "The structure of singing: system and art in vocal technique", by Richard Miller. This study justifies itself by the lack of research on materials for singing teaching in the Brazilian context. Moreover, this investigation aims to assist in the systematization of knowledge about singing teaching strategies, based on studies in the musical education and cognition field. The results of the study allow contextualizing the practice of lyrical singing teaching by teachers from Paraná, highlighting pedagogical/didactic tendencies of this process.
