Abstract: In a context in which the concern for the conservation of the Amazon Forest growsworldwide, the demand for studies on the dynamics of growth of species ofcommercial interest, which enable the foundation of forest management plans, allowing the modernization of the activity in a manner that becomes economicallyattractive and environmentally sustainable, grows proportionately. Thus, the objectiveof this work was to determine the growth pattern of Dipteryx odorata (Aublet) Willd,Goupia glabra Aubl., Handroanthus impetiginosus (Mart. Ex DC.) Mattos,Handroanthus serratifolius (Vahl.) S.Grose, Manilkara huberi (Ducke) A Chev., andQualea spp. in three distinct regions of the Terra Firme Amazon Forest, in the northof the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, in order to subsidize technical interpretiverequirements applied by the inspection agencies, in addition to serving as a basis fordecision making by forest managers. The data came from the inventory at 100% ofeach study area, located in the municipalities of Brasnorte, Colniza and SantaCarmen, from sustainable forest management plans approved by Organs competentbodies. Analyzes of the horizontal structure and spatial distribution of the specieswere carried out, aiming at the characterization of the areas. Probability densityfunctions were determined to estimate the diametric distribution of the species. Withdendrochronological data, models were adjusted that enabled the determination ofthe growth pattern of the selected species and through the selected models themaximization of the increment in diameter and volume was estimated, beingestimated the minimum cut diameter (MCD) and cut cycle for the six species. Thegrowth pattern of the species was represented, in general, by the Lundqvist andChapman-Richards equations. For the MCD, the values were both above and belowthe current specified by legislation (50 cm), ranging from 27 to 62 cm in diameter. However, no cutting cycle was greater than that provided for in the legislation (35years), ranging from 18 to 26 years. Thus, it is suggested that the institutionresponsible for the management of natural forests, as well as regional secretariats, consider an opening for discussion of these issues, enabling a future modernizationof the legislation, and the expansion of research on this topic.
