História ambiental no ensino de história : o processo de devastação florestal no território paranaense (1870-1970)

Abstract

Resumo: Esta dissertação tem como campo de estudo a história ambiental a partir do recorte da história ambiental do Paraná, destacando-se o processo de devastação florestal no território paranaense, abrangendo o período de 1870 a 1970. O objetivo principal da realização desta pesquisa é contribuir como professor-pesquisador para o ensino de História, assim o trabalho ora apresentado compreende tanto a fundamentação teórica quanto a elaboração de duas sequências didáticas, planejadas para alunos dos Anos Finais do Ensino Fundamental. A temática escolhida se justifica pelo interesse em aprofundar meus estudos sobre a história ambiental e contribuir para a constituição do acervo de subsídios teóricos e de materiais didático-pedagógicos sobre a história ambiental do Paraná, de modo a auxiliar a tarefa docente, que ainda carece de referenciais específicos sobre a história paranaense. O texto está organizado em três capítulos: O primeiro versa sobre a representação da natureza no Paraná oitocentista e a construção do ideário civilizatório; um século de fogo, machado e de devastação em escala industrial, já o segundo tem como tema: Sequências didáticas: história ambiental do Paraná. Esses dois primeiros capítulos apresentam uma discussão teórica sobre a questão ambiental, a qual é fruto de uma pesquisa por referenciais historiográficos e de fontes que permitiram problematizar a temática por meio da construção de uma narrativa sobre a história ambiental do Paraná, bem como se constituíram na base para o terceiro capítulo que apresenta as sequências didáticas. Essas atividades de ensino privilegiam a problematização da história ambiental do Paraná, por meio da utilização de fontes diversas como mapas, gráficos, tabelas e, particularmente, o trabalho fotográfico de Peter Scheier, encomendado pelo Governo do Estado em 1953, para a publicação de um álbum comemorativo por ocasião do centenário da emancipação política do Paraná.

Abstract: The present dissertation has as its field of study the environmental history from the perspective of the environmental history of Paraná, highlighting the process of forest devastation in the territory of Paraná, covering the period from 1870 to 1970. The main objective of this research is to contribute as a professor-researcher for the teaching of history, thus the work presented here comprises both the theoretical foundation and the elaboration of two didactic sequences, planned for students of the Final Years of Elementary School. The chosen theme is justified by the interest in deepening my studies on environmental history and contributing to the constitution of the collection of theoretical subsidies and didactic-pedagogical materials on the environmental history of Paraná in order to assist the teaching task, which still lacks specific references on the history of Paraná. The text is organized in three chapters: The representation of nature in Paraná in the 19th century and the construction of the civilizing ideal; A century of fire, ax and devastation on an industrial scale and; Didactic sequences: Paraná's environmental history. The first two chapters present a theoretical discussion on the environmental issue, which is the result of researching historiographical references and sources that allowed problematizing the theme through the construction of a narrative about the environmental history of Paraná, as well as constituting the basis for the third chapter that presents the didactic sequences. These teaching activities privilege the problematization of Paraná's environmental history through the use of diverse sources such as maps, graphs, tables and, particularly, the photographic work of Peter Scheier, commissioned by the State Government in 1953, for the publication of a commemorative album on the occasion of the centenary of Paraná's political emancipation.
