Abstract: This dissertation seeks to establish a management protocol, and reproduction, propagation and preservation of the species Rhabdocaulon lavanduloides. This is the first study on the propagation of this species, in order to subsidize a reproduction protocol, preservation of plant biodiversity and conservation of the Brazilian genetic heritage. In conducting seed germination tests of Rhabdocaulon lavanduloides, possible variables were determined in the rooting of stem cuttings. Germination was analyzed with four replications of 25 seeds per treatment in gerboxes, on two sheets of blotting paper, moistened with water 2,5 times the mass of the substrate, at two incubation temperatures (20ºC to 25ºC). It was observed that at 20°C, better results were obtained, with germination of 21,50%. However, future studies are needed to improve assessing this germination rate. The rooting potential of cuttings was also evaluated considering the variables: percentage of cuttings rooted, sprouting and dead in the presence of indolbutyric acid. The experiment was conducted with 6 cm long piles and an average diameter of 0,3 mm with bevel cuts. Were prepared and immersed in control (water), 50% hydroalcoholic solution and vegetable regulator (IBA) in doses of 250, 500, 1000, 2000 and 3000 mgL-1, with four replications of 20 cuttings per treatment. An average rooting of 82,50% was obtained, recommending the use of water. A study was carried out on the yield and chemical characterization of the essential oil of the dried leaves and flowers of this species, using the method of hydrodistillation in the extraction of the essential oil; and gas chromatographymass spectrometry, in the analysis of chemical composition. A yield of 0,73% in the O.E content was obtained for leaves and 0,77% for flowers. It was observed that in the chemical constitution of essential oil, a major compound called 2-MOTHY, represents 62% in leaves and 45,3% in flowers. We conclude that both the leaves and the analyzed flowers of R. lavanduloides have potential in the production of the phenolic terpene 2-MOTHY (2-methoxy-thymol) and products of organic cultivation and reproduction of the species, generating income to producers, in a sustainable way. .
