One solution that has been gaining traction, with satisfactory results, is Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), which involves the geological storage of CO2 at great depths. This study aims to assess the potential for CCS in the Lontras Shale, also within the context of the Paraná Basin. The methods used were the acquisition of parameters of Total Organic Carbon (TOC) and C/N ratio, to identify the origin of the organic matter. The obtained parameters were an average value of 0.6% TOC and mixed origin (aquatic and terrestrial), with the need to complement the study with more laboratory methods, such as XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) and XRF (X-Ray Fluorescence), in order to obtain information about the mineralogy and composition, thereby complementing the study with the inorganic component
