The study of the impacts of halokinesis and regional tectonics on the filling of the brazilian marginal basins has as its principal implement in the seismic stratigraphy method. The area of the seismic study corresponds to the central section of the Santos Basin, a passive margin basin inserted in the context of the South Atlantic’s opening in the Cretaceous. The structural analysis of 11 seismic sessions resulted on the identification of the extensional and compressive domains, which corresponds to the domes and walls salt provinces, respectively. The extensional domain is characterized by the predominance of structures such as rollover folds, drag folds and apical grábens whereas the compressive domain occurs with thrust faulting in the domes apices of the salt walls, indicating that the salt flow occurred from NW to SE. 11 stratigraphic intervals were identified. The oldest ones, dated from de Lower Albian to the Cenomanian (H2-H3 and H3-H4), are restricted to the Proximal Trough, a local depression created by the ascension of the most proximal dome, with its west and east boundaries defined by the structural features Hinge Line and Lagosta’s Fault, respectively. Between the H4 and H6.1 horizons, from the Cenomanian and Lower Campanian, the deposition occurs predominantly at west of the Cabo Frio’s Fault, which delineates the east boundary of the Central Trough. The intervals between the Lower Campanian and the Upper Oligocene (H6.1 to H8.2) occur throughout the basin and have a sin-tectonics relation with the evolution of mini-basins located in the salt walls province. The tectonic and stratigraphic analysis of the mini-basins indicated that the grater subsidence rate is dated between the Maastrichtian and Eocene, interval correspondent to the biggest dislocation of the coast line to the ocean due to the uplift pulses of the Cretaceous Serra do Mar. From the Eocene to the present, the influence of salt tectonics in the basin is gradually decreased. The main structural styles identified are: (i) basement’s hemigraben with a NE-SW elongation and sin and post-rift filling and nucleation possibly associated with Ribeira’s Belt structures, (ii) salt scars, pillows, domes and walls and mini-basins, (iii) apical grabens associated with ascension and deflation movements of salt domes, (iv) tectonic inversion fault with the compression dated from the Turanian, (v) contournites and (vi) scarps generated by faulting associated with the present geomorphology of the basin. The salt tectonics not only intensely intervenes on the structural aspects of Santos Basin but also has a great influence over the prospective potentials of the basin. Two exploration plays were identified, both with mixed traps. The first on carbonate rocks from the Guarujá Formation (between H2 and H3), on the proximities of a salt pillow and the Lagosta’s Fault, and the second on turbiditic sandstones located in clinoforms of the IIlhabela Member of the Itajaí-Açu Formation, between the Superior Turanian and Inferior Santonian
