Fumo e êxodo rural : transformações sócio-espaciais nas comunidades rurais de agricultores ucraíno-brasileiros em Prudentópolis - PR

Abstract

Resumo: Esta pesquisa visa entender as transformações econômicas, sociais e culturais das comunidades ucraíno-brasileiras no município de Prudentópolis (Paraná), sob influ ência da produção integrada de fumo. Procura-se identificar, como e em que forma a modernização da agricultura transforma os padrões sócio-culturais dos camponeses analisando as diferenças das suas integrações sistêmicas ao sistema ucraíno- brasileiro e ao sistema moderno. O ponto crucial nesta pesquisa é a função da inte gração social entre os agricultores de descendência ucraniana, outros agricultores e os agentes de transformação modernizadora, como as companhias internacionais e nacionais da indústria fumageira e membros da família migrados para os centros urbanos. Depois de uma discussão sobre a inserção da agricultura de pequeno porte no setor agrário do Brasil e uma interpretação dessa agricultura com base na teoria da estruturação (A. Giddens), segue uma análise da cultura camponesa do municí pio de Prudentópolis, uma apresentação de 5 comunidades do município (Linha Es perança, Linha ivaí, Linha Paraná, Linha Paraná Faxinai e Linha Santos Andrade), uma descrição qualitativa da vivência de 5 famílias e uma avaliação estatística com base em 26 propriedades. Finalmente, o trabalho discute a problemática da trans formação da vida social na área rural de Prudentópolis baseando-se na dialética entre integração sistêmica e integração social

Abstract: This research focuses on the economic, social and cultural transformations of Ukraino-Brazilian communities in the township of Prudentópolis (State of Paraná) under the influence of an integrated agricultural production of tobacco. It intends to understand how and in which way the modernization process in the agricultural field transforms the socio-cultural patterns of small farmers by analyzing differences be- tween its systemic integration both into the Ukraino-Brazilian and the modern system. The social integration process is of fundamental importance for the understanding of the functional relations between Ukrainian-descendent farmers, farmers of other cul tural origin and agents of the modernization processes, like the international and na- tional tobacco companies and family members who have migrated to urban centers. After contextualizing small farmer production within the scenario of Brazilian agricul- ture and an interpretation of small farmer agriculture based on the structuration ap- proach by A. GIDDENS, the specific agricultural situation of Prudentópolis will be presenteá, followed by a description of 5 selected communities (Linha Esperança, Linha Ivaí, Linha Paraná, Linha Paraná Faxinai and Linha Santos Andrade), a quali- tative description of 5 farmers' families and a statistical evaluation of 26 properties. Finally, the research discusses the transformation of rural social life in Prudentópolis via the theoretical understanding of the dialectics between systemic and social inte gration
