Abstract: Indigenous women responded in a particular way to the colonial process. They were the central target of a population policy at Amazon territory and, even with their constantly limited role, they acted on different fronts – they led a series of insurrections, went to court for rights, took over leadership, cultivated the land and traded, for instance. In many ways they resisted and imposed themselves in a hostile world, where male and exploitative domination was incessantly rasing barriers and stereotyping them. In this regard, the Amazonian territory, as well suffered constant attacks in the name of civilization, was molded by the agency of natives and their descendants, who reorganized political and religious aspects when they mobilize in order to conquer greater possible degree of freedom, according to their ways of life.
