Organismo e vida : Goldstein e a estrutura da experiência psicopatológica

Abstract

Resumo: O trabalho de Kurt Goldstein, ainda pouco conhecido no Brasil, influenciou diversas áreas do conhecimento. Seu trabalho como neurocientista foi realizado, principalmente, com soldados que sofreram lesões cerebrais durante a Primeira Guerra Mundial. Ao fundar um hospital, dedicado especificamente ao atendimento desses pacientes, ele iniciou uma trajetória que partia de reflexões sobre a metodologia utilizada em pesquisas biológicas, e da relação entre médico e paciente, e desembocava na formulação de uma teoria sobre o funcionamento do sistema nervoso e do organismo como um todo. Goldstein sempre considerou a Medicina enquanto uma ciência cujo conhecimento dá, por meio de, e para a ação, com vistas à intervenção. Suas ideias foram fundamentais para desenvolvimentos na Neurologia, Psiquiatria, Psicologia e nas pesquisas de caráter biológico. Além disso, um de seus trabalhos foi considerado o primeiro escrito pertencente ao campo da Neuropsicologia. Entre aqueles que foram leitores de seus escritos estão Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Georges Canguilhem, Ernest Cassirer e Aron Gurwitsch. Esse trabalho tem por objetivo resgatar a história e a repercussão das reflexões realizadas por Goldstein, introduzir suas ideias ao público brasileiro, analisar seu posicionamento enquanto cientista e apresentar suas discussões sobre saúde e doença, e suas implicações para o profissional cuja atuação está voltada para práticas que buscam a restauração da saúde. Para isso, foi realizada a leitura e análise de dois de seus principais livros; um deles The Organism: A holistic aprouch to biology derived from pathological data in man, considerado sua obra principal e que consiste, essencialmente, na apresentação e aplicação de um novo método de investigação clínica para pesquisas biológicas; e o segundo, que trata de uma continuidade das reflexões sobre o organismo e a natureza humana apresentadas no primeiro, intitulado Human Nature in the light of psychopathology. Além disso, foram consultados artigos científicos escritos por ele ou vinculados ao autor e ao desenvolvimento de suas ideias. Abstract: The work of Kurt Goldstein, still little known in Brazil, influenced several areas of knowledge. His work as a neuroscientist was performed mainly with soldiers who suffered brain injuries during World War I. When he founded a hospital, dedicated specifically to the care of these patients, he began a journey that began with reflections on the methodology used in biological research, and on the relationship between doctor and patient, leading to the formulation of a theory about the functioning of the nervous system and of the organism as a whole. Goldstein has always regarded Medicine as a science whose knowledge gives, through and to action, for intervention. His ideas were fundamental for developments in Neurology, Psychiatry, Psychology and biological research. In addition, one of his works was considered the first writing belonging to the field of Neuropsychology. Among those who have been readers of his writings are Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Georges Canguilhem, Ernest Cassirer and Aron Gurwitsch. This work aims to recover the history and repercussion of the reflections made by Goldstein, to introduce his ideas to the Brazilian public, to analyze his position as a scientist and to present his discussions on health and disease, and its implications for the professional whose practice is focused on practices which seek the restoration of health. For that, the reading and analysis of two of its main books was carried out; one of them The Organism: The holistic aprouch to biology derived from pathological data in man, considered its main work and that consists essentially in the presentation and application of a new method of clinical investigation for biological researches; and the second, which deals with a continuity of the reflections on the organism and the human nature presented in the first, entitled Human Nature in the light of psychopathology. In addition, scientific articles written by him or linked to the author and the development of his ideas were consulted.
