Formalismo e conteúdo na Fundamentação da metafísica dos costumes de Kant : uma resposta pela fórmula da humanidade

Abstract

Resumo: Immanuel Kant, em sua obra Fundamentação da Metafísica dos Costumes, estabeleceu uma nova compreensão a respeito da ação moral que, ao invés de partir dos móbeis sensíveis, funda-se na razão pura prática. Por isso, a sua teoria moral é considerada estritamente racional partindo de princípios a priori. Estes princípios da razão são os que conduzem à ação moral orientada pela lei suprema da moralidade que é o imperativo categórico. Com efeito, este imperativo fora, historicamente, considerado formal resultando, por conseguinte, na acusação de que a moral de Kant é uma moral vazia de conteúdo. Devido a essa acusação, a investigação se concentrará no estudo do imperativo categórico levando em conta sua fórmula da humanidade enquanto aquela fórmula que pode oferecer algum conteúdo à moralidade kantiana. Nesta leitura, serão encontrados aspectos que apontam para a presença de um conteúdo intrínseco à moralidade kantiana - não meramente formal -, especificamente, em sua fórmula da humanidade. Sendo assim, a fórmula da humanidade, compreendida enquanto imperativo prático, busca relacionar a universalidade da lei moral a uma finalidade: a de tratar o ser racional como um fim em si mesmo. Outrossim, por ser aquela que determina a vontade racional do agente moral, a fórmula da humanidade é aquela que dá o conteúdo à motivação da vontade do ser racional. Deste modo, a ideia de humanidade de que tem em vista a fórmula corresponde ao ser dotado de razão, isto é, ao sujeito capaz de racionalidade, que prioriza os princípios morais sobre quaisquer outros. Abstract: Immanuel Kant, in his book Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, established a new understanding regarding moral action that is based on pure practical reason, instead of sensitive mobiles. Therefore, his moral theory is considered strictly rational because of its principles a priori. These principles of reason lead to moral action guided by the supreme law of morality, which is the categorical imperative. Indeed, this imperative has been historically considered as formal, which resulted in the accusation that Kant's morality is a morality empty of content. Due to this accusation, the investigation will focus on the study of the categorical imperative taking into account its formula of humanity as that formula that may offer some content to Kantian morality. In this reading, the reader will find aspects that point to the presence of content intrinsic to Kantian morality - not merely formal - specifically, in its formula of humanity. Thus, the formula of humanity, understood as a practical imperative, intends to relate the universality of the moral law to a purpose: that of treating the rational being as an end in itself. Moreover, because it is the one that determines the rational willing of the moral agent, the formula of humanity is that which gives content to the motivation of the willing of the rational being. Therefore, the idea of humanity that has the formula in view corresponds to being endowed with reason, that is, to the subject capable of rationality, that prioritize moral principles over any others.
