    Abstract

Abstract: This dissertation investigates the influence of macroeconomic variables on redemption flows in investment funds in Brazil, with a focus on the Equity, Fixed Income, and Multimarket categories. First, the theoretical review is grounded in Behavioral Finance Theory and other empirical studies that examine the drivers of fund redemptions. Next, an overview of the Brazilian investment fund industry is presented, including its evolution, regulatory framework, and investor profiles. The empirical analysis is conducted using a Vector Auto-Regression (VAR) model, which allows for the examination of the dynamic relationships between macroeconomic indicators, such as the Selic rate, inflation, exchange rate, GDP, country risk, among others, and redemption behavior. The results indicate that shocks in interest rates and economic uncertainty have a significant impact on redemptions, with distinct effects across fund categories. Fixed income funds exhibited greater sensitivity to the Selic rate and the economic cycle (GDP), while equity and multimarket funds responded more strongly to uncertainty and stock market performance. The analysis reinforces the presence of not entirely rational investor behavior, highlighting the role of behavioral factors in the dynamics of fund flows
