Rindo dos gêneros : articulações entre humor e gênero a partir da obra de Laerte

Abstract

Resumo: Quais são as fórmulas comumente utilizadas para criar um modelo de humor que ri dos gêneros? A utilização de estereótipos configura uma prática habitual na tecitura do humor generificado, mas a forma com que tais materiais são entrelaçados e articulados faz toda a diferença no resultado final da composição humorística. Isso porque, o humor que faz uso de estereótipos de gênero normalmente torna risível os próprios elementos articulados na composição do humor. Não é tão frequente, porém, um formato humorístico que, ao fazer uso de tais recursos, torna risível as expectativas em relação a eles e não os elementos em si. Esse movimento, na verdade, muda tudo. A ideia de um humor que subverte o padrão, que ridiculariza o normal e que ainda faz rir pode ser encontrada na obra da cartunista brasileira Laerte Coutinho. A partir de um olhar pautado em recortes relacionados à obra da artista e alusivos às tirinhas de Muriel e às tirinhas de Hugo Baracchini (personagem que se torna Muriel), é possível visualizar a produção do corpo não apenas da personagem, mas também de sua criadora. Isso porque o processo criativo de passagem do personagem masculino, Hugo, para a personagem transfeminina, Muriel, ocorreu paralelamente à transição de gênero de sua autora, Laerte. Assim, tomando como ponto de partida tais conexões, a presente pesquisa buscou analisar não apenas os atravessamentos entre humor e gênero – seus pontos de encontro, mas principalmente os modos pelos quais o humor incide nas construções de gênero e como estas incidem no humor. Para tanto, a produção de dados foi dividida em três grupos. Um dos grupos é formado pelas tirinhas de Hugo Baracchini produzidas nos anos 90 e impressas em formato de livro no ano de 2005. Outro grupo é composto pelas tirinhas de Muriel publicadas no site do jornal Folha de São Paulo entre as datas de 11 de março de 2009 e 15 de janeiro de 2013. O último grupo faz referência aos materiais alusivos à vida da cartunista Laerte, de modo que o principal trabalho analisado corresponde ao documentário "Laerte-se" lançado em 01 de maio de 2017 e produzido pela Netflix. Dessa maneira, com base em diversos campos teóricos que dialogam com os temas emergentes nos materiais de pesquisa acima mencionados, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo investigar a mobilização do humor como estratégia de crítica às regulações de gênero, bem como analisar os efeitos sociopolíticos dessa estratégia na produção das corporeidades manifestadas pela personagem e por sua autora. Sustento que a forma como os corpos são produzidos pelas e nas interações e relações sociais através do humor é pautada em estereótipos. Estes tanto cristalizam performances de gênero quanto admitem espaços de subversão, transformação e crítica a estas mesmas performances

Abstract: What are the commonly used formulas to create a humor model that makes fun of genders? The use of stereotypes is a common practice in the weaving of gendered humor, but the way in which these materials are intertwined and articulated makes all the difference in the final result of the humorous composition. This is because humor that makes use of gender stereotypes usually makes the elements articulated in the composition of the humor laughable. It is not so common, however, to find a humorous format that, by using such resources, makes the expectations regarding them laughable and not the elements themselves. This movement, in fact, changes everything. The idea of humor that subverts the standard, that ridicules the normal and that still makes people laugh can be found in the work of Brazilian cartoonist Laerte Coutinho. From a perspective based on clippings related to the artist's work and alluding to Muriel's comic strips and the comic strips of Hugo Baracchini (the character who becomes Muriel), it is possible to visualize the production of the body not only of the character, but also of her creator. This is because the creative process of transitioning from the male character, Hugo, to the transfeminine character, Muriel, occurred in parallel with the gender transition of its author, Laerte. Thus, taking these connections as a starting point, this research sought to analyze not only the intersections between humor and gender – their meeting points, but mainly the ways in which humor affects gender constructions and how these affect humor. To this end, the data production was divided into three groups. One of the groups is made up of Hugo Baracchini's comic strips produced in the 1990s and printed in book format in 2005. Another group is made up of Muriel's comic strips published on the Folha de São Paulo newspaper website between March 11, 2009 and January 15, 2013. The last group refers to materials alluding to the life of cartoonist Laerte, so that the main work corresponds to the documentary "Laerte-se" released on May 1, 2017 and produced by Netflix. In this way, based on several theoretical fields that dialogue with the emerging themes in the research materials mentioned above, this work aimed to investigate the mobilization of humor as a strategy to criticize gender regulations, as well as to analyze the sociopolitical effects of this strategy in the production of corporealities manifested by the character and its author. To argue that the way bodies are produced by and in social interactions and relations through humor is guided by stereotypes. These both crystallize gender performances and allow for spaces of subversion, transformation and criticism of these same performances
