Eva moderna : análise das imagens femininas na revista A Maçã em 1922 e 1923

Abstract

Resumo: Essa dissertação tem como foco a análise das personagens femininas presentes nas edições da revista galante A Maçã nos anos de 1922 e 1923. Trata-se da primeira fase de circulação dessa revista ilustrada, que foi publicada na cidade do Rio de Janeiro desde 1922 até 1929. Nas primeiras décadas do século XX, com a ampliação dos espaços de socialização e consumo que possibilitaram o aumento da presença feminina no espaço urbano, houve a crescente aparição de ilustrações e personagens de mulheres em textos e imagens de revistas. No caso da revista A Maçã, essas imagens, idealizadas por seus criadores, retrataram os receios e desejos masculinos acerca das mudanças de comportamentos e novos hábitos das mulheres modernas. Nesse sentido, a fim de contribuir com os estudos de gênero e a análise de periódicos ilustrados como ferramentas que auxiliaram na difusão de ideias e pensamentos, a pesquisa ora apresentada discute as mudanças de comportamentos femininos ao longo das duas primeiras décadas do século XX no Rio de Janeiro, conforme foram expressas nas imagens de mulheres e nos textos que utilizaram personagens femininas, publicadas nessa revista ilustrada.

Abstract: This dissertation focuses on the analysis of female characters present in the editions of the romantic magazine A Maçã in the years 1922 and 1923. This represents the initial phase of circulation of this illustrated magazine, which was published in the city of Rio de Janeiro from 1922 to 1929. In the early decades of the 20th century, with the expansion of social spaces and consumerism allowing for an increased presence of women in urban areas, there was a growing appearance of illustrations and female characters in magazine texts and images. In the case of the magazine A Maçã, these images, envisioned by its creators, depicted male fears and desires regarding changes in behaviors and new habits of modern women. In this context, aiming to contribute to gender studies and the analysis of illustrated periodicals as tools that aided in the dissemination of ideas and thoughts, the presented research discusses the changes in female behaviors during the first two decades of the 20th century in Rio de Janeiro, as expressed in the images of women and the texts that utilized female characters, published in this illustrated magazine.
