O conceito de cultura sob o ponto de vista da KDU

Abstract

Resumo: Neste trabalho analisa-se a noção de cultura kantiana, tendo como ponto de partida a terceira Crítica, denominada Crítica da faculdade de julgar (1790), cuja definição proposta pelo autor em Do fim último da natureza como um sistema teleológico, parágrafo 83 (§83), no Apêndice - Doutrina do método da Faculdade de julgar teleológica, assevera a cultura como fim último do ser humano. Por se tratar de um juízo teleológico reflexionante, que serve como princípio antropológico, demonstrar-se-á que os limites nessa definição incorrem em duas constatações: primeiramente, quanto a noção acrítica do conceito de cultura e, segundo, no que diz respeito à estruturação do texto na elaboração da ideia de cultura, permitindo-se, assim, asseverar que a definição é abrupta no texto de referência. No entanto, ao trazer outros textos críticos e dimensionar a mesma definição no §83, há de se reconhecer a importância da noção de cultura no bojo da filosofia kantiana como um todo. Essa ideia de cultura, a partir da análise mais abrangente da filosofia de Kant, permite problematizar os limites, as prospecções e projeções daquele conceito. Assim, optou-se em subdividir esse trabalho em duas partes, sendo que na Primeira Parte se demonstra, por meio da indicação de uma polissemia no uso do termo cultura [Cultur], na terceira Crítica, que o autor não teria elementos suficientes para definir a cultura como o faz, quando afirma que "[...] A promoção da aptidão de um ser racional para quaisquer fins em geral (em sua liberdade, portanto) é a cultura. [...]" (KdU, AA 05:431; trad. p.328-29). Para isso, se apresenta o percurso que Kant percorre, após referir-se à cultura de diferentes formas, até chegar à definição exposta. Na Segunda Parte, defende-se o argumento que, embora o conceito definido incorra em problemas no texto da terceira Crítica, é plausível apoiar a ideia de cultura ali apresentada, desde que ela receba apoio conceitual de outros textos nos quais a ideia de cultura orbita, a saber: Ideia de uma história universal de um ponto de vista cosmopolita (1984); Resposta à pergunta: O que é Esclarecimento? (1784), Começo conjectural da história humana (1786), Antropologia de um ponto de vista pragmático (1798) Sobre a pedagogia (1803). Esses textos permitem ser reunidos sob a dimensão da questão antropológica kantiana, mais propriamente no direcionamento para analisá-la. Isso serve de base para propor que a noção de cultura é um conceito chave na interpretação da filosofia kantiana, pois fornece uma proposição admissível sobre a terceira indagação quanto a destinação do ser humano (KrV, A805/B833).

Abstract: This work analyzes the notion of Kantian culture having as a starting point the third Kantian Critique, the Critique of judgment (1790), whose definition proposed by the author in §83 entitled, On the ultimate end of nature as a teleological system, in the Appendix - Doctrine of the Faculty's method of judging teleological, asserts culture as the ultimate end of the human being. As it is a reflective teleological judgment, which serves as an anthropological principle, it will be demonstrated that the limits in this definition incur in two findings, namely, firstly, as regards the uncritical notion of the concept of culture, and second, as regards the structuring the text in the elaboration of the idea of culture, thus allowing to assert that the definition is abrupt in the reference text. However, when bringing other critical texts and dimensioning the same definition in §83, one must recognize the importance of the notion of culture in the midst of Kantian philosophy as a whole. This idea of culture, based on a more comprehensive analysis of Kant's philosophy, allows us to question the limits, prospects and projections of that concept. Thus, it was decided to subdivide this work into two parts, and in the First Part it is shown, through the indication of a polysemy in the use of the term culture [Cultur], in the third Critique, that the author would not have enough elements to define culture as it does, namely, stating that "[...] The promotion of a rational being's aptitude for any ends in general (in his freedom, therefore) is culture. [...]" (KdU, AA 05:431; trans. p.328-29). For this, the path that Kant follows, after referring to culture in different ways, until reaching the definition exposed is presented. In the Second Part of the present work, the argument is defended that, although the defined concept incurs problems within the text of the third criticism, it is plausible to support the idea of culture presented there, since it receives conceptual support from other texts by the philosopher of Königsberg, in which the idea of culture orbits. These texts, namely Idea of a universal history from a cosmopolitan point of view (1984); Answer to the question: What is Enlightenment? (1784), Conjectural beginning of human history (1786), Anthropology from a pragmatic point of view (1798) Pedagogy (1803) allow to be gathered under the dimension of the Kantian anthropological question, more specifically in the direction to analyze this are. This serves as a basis for proposing that the notion of culture is a key concept in the interpretation of Kantian philosophy, as it provides a plausible proposition about the third question regarding the destiny of the human being (KrV, A805/B833).
