O papel do Jornal Sem Terra na organização MST

Abstract

Resumo: A presente pesquisa tem como foco a questão da comunicação no interior do Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST), analisando especificamente o Jornal dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (JST). O MST tem ocupado largos espaços no cenário brasileiro nos últimos anos e motivado grande quantidade de estudos em variados ramos das ciências. Trata-se de uma organização que luta pela reforma agrária, ao mesmo tempo em que defende alterações profundas na sociedade brasileira, com a adoção de um regime socialista. Os desafios de um movimento de âmbito nacional, que atua junto a um segmento disperso e desorganizado da população, são difíceis e complexos. Estas dificuldades se ampliam quando se leva em conta que o ator social MST se contrapõe ao governo, aos principais agentes econômicos e aos grandes meios de comunicação social. Por isso, os processos internos de comunicação ganham maior importância na organização. Importante também é que setores externos, que apoiam a luta dos sem-terra, tenham contato com informações do Movimento, repassadas segundo sua própria visão de mundo. Nesse sentido, o JST cumpre um duplo papel: interno e externo. Com base em entrevistas feitas junto à lideranças, militantes e integrantes da base do MST, a pesquisa procurou verificar a extensão das funções do jornal dentro da organização, tendo como fundamentação teórica conceitos das teorias dos movimentos sociais, da comunicação e do jornalismo.

Abstract: This research focus on the communication in the interior of the Movement of Landless Rural Workers (MST), talking specificaly about the Journal of the Landless Rural Workers (JST). The Movement has taken large spaces in the Brazilian scenery in the last few years and motivating a big part of the research in miscellaneous lines of sciences. It is about the organization that fights for the agrarian reform, in the same time that defends deep alterations in the Brazilian society with the addoption of the socialist regim. The challenges of a movement with social scope that actuates with a segment of the population that is scattered and desorganized are very hard and complex. Those difficulties ampliate when it is considered that the social actor MST opposites the government, the major economical agents and the bigger social communications means. That is why the internal communication process gain more importance in the organization. It is also important that external sectors get in touch with the Movement information, showed through its own world view. In this way the JST has a double role: internal and external. Based in interviews made with liderships, militants and other integrants of the MST base, the research tried to verify the extention of the function of the newspaper in the organization, having as a théorie bases concepts of the social movement theory, the communication and the journalism.
