Abstract: We accomplished a study of the epileptogenic factors in 100 patient with localized epilepsy assisted in the University Hospital Cajuru during the period of January of 1996 to July of 1997. The data were obtained by means of specific protocol of the epileptology program. Most of the patients wer inside of the interval of age of 14 to 33 years. The male gender prevailed with 57 patient and 87% did not have antecedents of epilepsy relatives. The simple partial secondarily generalized seizures in their with 49 patients. The risk factors of post-natal prevailed with 43 patients, followed by pre-natal with 40. Association of risk factors was observed in 32 patient and in 24 it was not possible to define the same ones. In the group of cases in that existed combination of risk factors, the association pre-birth and post-birth it went to more frequent with 16 patient. The primogenic, the instrumental childbirth and the cranial trauma were the factors pre-natal, peri-natal and post-natal more frequent respetivamente, and the cranial trauma was the main risk factor separately for localized epilepsies in our study.
