Ações educativas de biossegurança para coletores ambientais atuantes na associação de materiais recicláveis em Guaratuba - PR

Abstract

Resumo: Os resíduos sólidos recicláveis ou materiais recicláveis demandam classificação, tratamento e disposição adequados. Para tal, é muito importante destacar o trabalho dos coletores ambientais, que atuam como catadores e selecionadores destes materiais. O objetivo principal deste estudo consiste em caracterizar as atividades laborais dos coletores ambientais vinculados à Associação de Catadores de Recicláveis de Guaratuba (Acamares), bem como a realização de práticas educativas e seus impactos. Os métodos utilizados foram a pesquisa bibliográfica, seguida da observação participante, registros fotográficos das dependências da associação e o trabalho realizado pelos coletores ambientais, e ações educativas sobre saúde do trabalhador e biossegurança. Após o reconhecimento do local e do processo de trabalho realizado na referida associação, em diálogo com os gestores da associação e da secretaria municipal de meio ambiente do município de Guaratuba-PR, foram identificados os temas mais relevantes para realização das ações educativas, que foram divididas por temas, seguindo um cronograma pré-definido e aprovado por todos. O resultado das ações, em geral, foi positivo. Os coletores ambientais tiveram a oportunidade de sanar dúvidas em relação aos riscos relacionados às atividades laborais que desenvolvem, puderam refletir sobre a perspectiva de vida e futuro, perceberam a importância do trabalho que realizam, e apesar da resistência em tratar de temas sensíveis, como o exemplo da oficina dos perigos relacionados ao uso de tabaco e álcool, alguns se sentiram motivados a procurar ajuda profissional para tratamento de saúde. Conclui-se, então, que os objetivos previamente estabelecidos para desenvolvimento deste estudo foram alcançados. Com o desenvolvimento deste estudo foi possível reafirmar as questões envolvendo os desafios encontrados no desenvolvimento da função de coletor ambiental, a falta de reconhecimento da importância do trabalho realizado, os riscos sanitários e ambientais à que estão expostos e o preconceito, e em contrapartida a importância da educação para mudar essa realidade.

Abstract: Recyclable solid waste or recyclable materials require proper classification, treatment and disposal. To this end, it is very important to highlight the work of environmental collectors, who act as collectors and selectors of these materials. The main objective of this study is to characterize the work activities of environmental collectors linked to the Association of Recyclable Collectors of Guaratuba (Acamares), as well as the performance of educational practices and their impacts. The methods used were bibliographic research, followed by participant observation, photographic records of the association's premises and the work carried out by environmental collectors, and educational actions on worker health and biosafety. After recognizing the place and the work process carried out in that association, in dialogue with the managers of the association and the municipal secretary of environment of the municipality of Guaratuba-PR, the most relevant themes for carrying out the educational actions were identified, which were divided by themes, following a pre-defined schedule and approved by all. The result of the actions in general was positive. The environmental collectors had the opportunity to resolve doubts regarding the risks related to the work activities they carry out, they were able to reflect on the perspective of life and future, they realized the importance of the work they perform, and despite the resistance to dealing with sensitive topics, such as the example of the workshop on the dangers related to tobacco and alcohol use, some felt motivated to seek professional help for health treatment. It is concluded, then, that the objectives previously established for the development of this study were achieved. With the development of this study, it was possible to reaffirm the issues involving the challenges encountered in the development of the role of environmental collector, the lack of recognition of the importance of the work carried out, the sanitary and environmental risks to which they are exposed and the prejudice, and in contrast the importance of education to change this reality.
