Os sentidos do trabalho sexual a partir da história de vida : análise de narrativa de três trabalhadores sexuais

Abstract

Resumo: Esta dissertação de mestrado surge a partir das polêmicas do debate feminista contemporâneo sobre o trabalho sexual, que ora é interpretado como a expressão mais visível da exploração patriarcal do corpo da mulher, ora como opção legítima e representativa da autonomia da mulher que o realiza. Para além deste dualismo, tenho por objetivo analisar os sentidos e os significados que as próprias mulheres profissionais do sexo dão à sua experiência enquanto prostitutas, identificando os sistemas de valores que norteiam suas práticas e representações e as modalidades de agência que acionaram ao longo de sua trajetória, buscando fugir da perspectiva que as enquadra enquanto vítimas. Conheci e coletei, a partir de entrevistas semiestruturadas, a história de vida de três mulheres, com diferentes perfis e idades, que atuaram como profissionais do sexo em algum momento de suas vidas, identificando o contexto de entrada no universo do trabalho sexual, suas preferências quanto às modalidades existentes no nicho, o que aprenderam de positivo e negativo ao longo de suas caminhadas e como concebem e entendem a prostituição. A análise das entrevistas aponta para diferenças e similaridades significativas nas trajetórias, que podem ser explicadas levando-se em consideração as transformações pelas quais a sociedade e a prostituição passaram ao longo da década de 1970 até os dias de hoje, marcadas pelo surgimento e atuação dos movimentos organizados de profissionais do sexo, feministas e a consequente alteração do estatuto normativo e moral relativo às mulheres. Foi possível perceber que a prostituição assume sentidos e significados distintos e variados ao longo da trajetória das três mulheres entrevistadas, cuja compreensão requer considerar certos acontecimentos marcantes em suas vidas, antes, durante e depois da passagem pelo universo do sexo comercial, bem como a aproximação com movimentos organizados, seja de trabalhadoras sexuais, seja de pessoas vivendo com HIV. Ainda, no caso de duas entrevistadas de maneira mais explícita, foi possível identificar uma forma de lidar, em seus próprios sistemas morais, com o estigma que pesa sobre as profissionais do sexo, na medida em que a mulher promíscua, para elas, não pode ser a prostituta, pois esta, a despeito de relacionarse sexualmente com muitos homens, o faz por um objetivo maior, o de garantir o próprio sustento, diferentemente daquelas mulheres que relacionam-se sem cobrar, estas, sim, representadas enquanto promíscuas.

Abstract: This master's thesis emerges from the polemics of the contemporary feminist debate on sex work, which, in some instances is interpreted as the most visible expression of the patriarchal exploitation of the woman's body, whereas in others as a legitimate and representative option of the autonomy of the woman who performs it. In addition to this dualism, I aim to analyze the senses and meanings that women sex workers give to their experience as prostitutes, identifying the value systems that guide their practices and representations and the modalities of agency that were triggered by them throughout their trajectory, seeking to escape the perspective that frames them as victims. I met and collected, through semi-structured interviews, the life story of three women, with different profiles and ages, who acted as sex workers at some point in their lives, identifying the context of entry into the universe of sex work, their preferences regarding the modalities existing in the niche, what they learned positively and negatively along their journeys and how they conceive and understand prostitution. The analysis of the interviews points to significant differences and similarities in the trajectories, which can be explained by taking into account the transformations that society and prostitution underwent from the 1970s to the present day, marked by the uprising and performance of organized movements of sex workers, feminists and the consequent change in the normative and moral status of women. It was possible to notice that prostitution takes on different and varied senses and meanings throughout the trajectory of the three women interviewed, whose understanding requires the consideration of certain important events in their lives, before, during and after the passage through the universe of commercial sex, as well as the approximation with organized movements, whether of sex workers or of people living with HIV. Also, in the case of two interviewees more explicitly, it was possible to identify a way of dealing, via their own moral systems, with the stigma that weighs on sex workers, given that promiscuous women, for them, cannot to be the prostitute, due to the fact that despite having sexual relations with many men, she does so for a greater objective, that of guaranteeing her own livelihood, unlike those women who sexually relate without charge, these, yes, are represented as promiscuous.
