Investigação tipológica de vias urbanas : estudo de caso da Rua XV de Novembro em Curitiba

Abstract

Resumo: A rua, metonímia de cidade, parece ter surgido com as primeiras aglomerações urbanas. Ao longo da história foi ganhando novas versões e variações tipológicas derivadas das relações entre o contexto histórico, sociocultural e filosófico que as permeou, sendo sempre uma expressão destas relações. Assim como, inicialmente, elas são moldadas pelos usuários, posteriormente, elas moldam a maneira de se viver na cidade. Neste estudo foram explorados alguns dos fundamentos que impulsionaram o surgimento dos alguns dos mais importantes tipos de via urbana criados pela civilização ocidental, a fim de analisar as relações supracitadas para, posteriormente, recorrendo às categorias de análise identificadas a partir do referencial teórico, explorar o estudo de caso da pedestrianização da Rua XV de Novembro (Curitiba, PR), através da pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e de entrevistas semiestruturadas com alguns dos principais indivíduos responsáveis por este processo. Os resultados mostraram que os elementos que suscitam a transformação da via em rua de pedestres parecem decorrer de pensamentos intelectualizados dos profissionais envolvidos no planejamento e na gestão da cidade de Curitiba, e não de uma mudança preexistente no comportamento de seus habitantes, e que este fenômeno induziu grandes modificações comportamentais nos curitibanos, além de ter sido um exemplo bastante replicado no Brasil, intervindo no modo de vida de diversas cidades. Abstract: The street, metonymy of city, seems to have arisen along with the first urban settlements. Throughout history it has been gaining new versions and typological variations derived from the relations between the historical, sociocultural, and philosophical context that permeated them, being always an expression of these relations. Just as, initially, they are shaped by users, later, they shape the way of living in the city. In this study, some of the fundamentals that drove the emergence of some of the most important types of urban ways created by Western civilization were explored, subsequently, using the analysis units raised in the theoretical framework, to explore the case study of pedestrianization of the Rua XV de Novembro (Curitiba, PR), through bibliographic, documentary research and semistructured interviews with some of the main individuals responsible for this process. The results pointed that the elements that caused the transformation of this into a pedestrian street seem to stem from intellectualized thoughts of the professionals involved in the planning and management of the city of Curitiba, and not from a pre-existing change in the behaviour of its inhabitants, and that this phenomenon induced great behavioural changes in the city dwellers, in addition to being a very replicated example in Brazil, intervening in the way of life of several cities.
