Três ensaios sobre o pensamento econômico de Israel Kirzner

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho analisa a História do Pensamento Econômico de Israel Kirzner a partir da postura de engajamento profissional do autor. Sua trajetória acadêmica é contextualizada com base na história recente da Escola Austríaca a partir de três marcos nesse período. O primeiro é o final do debate do cálculo econômico sob o socialismo, momento de maior descrédito do Austrianismo, quando Kirzner ingressa no doutorado em Economia e procura a orientação de Mises. O segundo é o "Austrian R evival" na década de 1970, etapa de recuperação de prestígio da Escola Austríaca para a qual parte dos esforços kirznerianos foram dirigidos. O terceiro é a década de 1980, quando a existência de um Austrianismo mais consolidado suscita diferentes tentativas de defini-lo, com Kirzner defendendo a manutenção de uma visão Austríaca pautada na complementariedade entre Mises e Hayek. Conclui-se que o engajamento profissional de Kirzner foi fundamental na recuperação da Escola Austríaca. Esse mérito é devido por ter feito o Austrianismo inteligível para um público mais amplo e por ter desenvolvido conjuntamente as ideias misesianas e hayekianas sobre o processo de mercado. Esses esforços permitem caracterizar uma visão kirzneriana da Escola Austríaca que guarda relação com a teoria microeconômica tradicional, mas que avança com relação a esta pela maior subjetividade na interpretação dos fenômenos econômicos, tornando-a mais geral. Abstract: This work analyzes the History of Economic Thought of Israel Kirzner from professional engagement posture of the author. His academic trajectory is contextualized based on three milestones in the recent history of the Austrian School. The first one is the end of the debate of economic calculation under socialism, the moment of greatest discredit of Austrianism when Kirzner entered the at the PhD in Economics and seeks the guidance of Mises. The second is the Austrian Revival in the 1970s, the prestigious recovery stage of the Austrian School to which part of the Kirznerian efforts were directed. The third is in the 1980s, when the existence of a more consolidated Austrianism raises different attempts to define it, when Kirzner used the maintenance of an Austrian vision based on the complementarity between Mises and Hayek. It is concluded that the Kirzner's professional engagement was instrumental in the recovery of the Austrian School. This merit is due to become Austrianism more intelligible to a wider audience and for jointly developing Misesian and Hayekian ideas about the market process. These efforts allows characterizing a Kirznerian view of the Austrian School, which is related to traditional microeconomic theory, but which advances to its respect through its greater subjectivity on the interpretation of economic phenomena, becoming it more general.
