Renovação dos ciclos, transformações da vida : uma etnografia sobre o Ka'a Nhemongarai (Cerimônia da Erva-Mate) dos Guarani-Mbya da Aldeia Piraí (Araquari/SC)

Abstract

Resumo: No interior do município de Araquari, região do litoral norte de Santa Catarina, uma pequena aldeia Guarani-Mbya, comprimida territorialmente pela BR-280 e por diversos empreendimentos rurais, costuma celebrar no mês de setembro a transformação de Ara Yma (Tempo Velho) em Ara Pyau (Tempo Novo) através do Ka'a Nhemongarai (cerimônia da erva-mate). Ao realizá-lo celebram também a transformação mítica da filha de Nhanderu em ka'a (erva-mate). A presente dissertação, fruto de meu trabalho de campo etnográfico na aldeia Piraí durante os anos de 2017 e 2018, pretende explorar algumas questões suscitadas por esta cerimônia, que tem a opy como seu lugar privilegiado e a renovação da vida mbya como finalidade. Partindo do Ka'a Nhemongarai, mas também das práticas e discursos aos quais tive acesso em Piraí, foram destacadas nessa etnografia as ações e atribuições políticas e cosmológicas das lideranças, xondaro, xondaria e do xeramoi que possibilitam relações ora de abertura e proximidade, ora de retração e esquiva com a sociedade jurua (não-indígena). Nesse panorama, as diferenças/singularidades no pensamento e modo de vida mbya frente à sociedade hegemônica, assim como suas particulares formas de mobilidade, territorialidade e caminhada - que tantas vezes se contrapõem ou se sobrepõem às lógicas jurua de uso e ocupação territorial - foram questões enfatizadas pela voz nativa e analisadas neste trabalho. Ademais, buscouse refletir sobre o tema da renovação dos tempos e das transformações do mundo mbya em consonância com as elaborações da aldeia acerca de seu próprio calendário agrícola e cerimonial. Abstract: In the countryside of Araquari, on the north coast of Santa Catarina, a small Guarani-Mbya village lies compressed between interstate highway BR-280 and several rural enterprises. Every September, the inhabitants of this village celebrate the transformation of Ara Yma (Old Time) into Ara Pyau (New Time) by means of the Ka'a Nhemongarai (yerba mate ceremony), through which they also commemorate the mythical transformation of Nhanderu's daughter into ka'a (yerba mate). This dissertation, which is the fruit of my ethnographic research in the Piraí village over the years of 2017 and 2018, aims to explore some of the questions raised by the Ka'a Nhemongarai, a ceremony whose central place is the opy (prayer house) and whose main goal is the Mbya renewal of life. Therefore, this study stems from the Ka'a Nhemongarai itself, as well as from discourses and practices to which I gained access in Piraí. It highlights the actions, as well as the political and cosmological roles of the leaders xondaro, xondaria and xeramoi, whose relationship with the jurua (non-indigenous) society alternates between openness and evasiveness. Considering this panorama, the differences and singularities of the Mbya's modes of thinking and living in opposition to those of the hegemonic society, as well as their particular forms of mobility, territoriality and walk (which often oppose or overlap the jurua's logic of use and occupation of territory) were all emphasized by the natives and therefore analyzed in this study. Furthermore, I reflected upon the renewal of times and the transformations in the Mbya world, taking into account the villagers' understanding of their own agricultural and ceremonial calendar.
