A Poética da história em Hayden White : construções da narrativa histórica e suas possibilidades literárias

Abstract

Resumo: Na segunda metade do século XX, houve um processo de efervescência nas ciências humanas, o linguistic turn, e desse período resultaram várias inquietações acerca das epistemes disciplinares, afloraram os questionamentos sobre o caráter e a estrutura narrativa que constituía o discurso dessas áreas do conhecimento. No campo da história não foi diferente, e nesse contexto destaca-se o papel de Hayden White, que impulsionou a discussão sobre narratividade da história. Em Meta-História (1973), Trópicos do Discurso (1978) e The Conten of the Form (1987), White discute a forma pela qual o discurso histórico é estabelecido e as limitações e possibilidades que tal forma oferece. E, a partir dessas teses, as indagações e objetivos da presente pesquisa pairam sobre um ponto específico - porém, amplo e fundamental - da discussão: a poética da história. White desenvolve a teoria dos tropos, e identifica os elementos notadamente literários na elaboração do discurso historiográfico, e assim, a atitude poética do historiador na construção da narrativa histórica, e, por fim, procura delinear a relação existente entre história e ficção. E é sobre essa poética no fazer historiográfico, indicada por White, que se propõe esse trabalho. Abstract: In the second half of the twentieth century, there was a process of effervescence in the human sciences, the linguistic turn, and from that period resulted in several concerns about the disciplinary epistemes, questions about the character and narrative structure that constituted the discourse of these areas of knowledge. In the field of history it was no different, and in this context stands out the role of Hayden White, who propelled the discussion about narrativity of history. In Meta-History (1973), Tropics of Discourse (1978) and The Contention of the Form (1987), White discusses the way in which historical discourse is established and the limitations and possibilities that such a discourse offers. And, from these theses, the inquiries and objectives of the present research rest on a specific but broad and fundamental point of the discussion: the poetics of history. White develops the theory of tropes, and identifies the notably literary elements in the elaboration of historiographical discourse, and thus, the poetic attitude of the historian in the construction of historical narrative, and, finally, seeks to delineate the relation between history and fiction. And it is about this poetics in the historiographic making, indicated by White, that this work is proposed.
