Abstract: The proposal of this research is to analyze the written compositions of teenagers classified as mild and moderate mental deficient people. The theoretical-methodological basis for that is the social-discursive interactionism, as proposed by Bronckart, and theoretical tools coming from discoursively oriented Text Linguistics, Language Acquisition and Neurolinguistics as well. After the presentation of the subjects whose texts constitute the object of this study, with their respective clinical evaluations, data producing conditions, considered a very important factor for coherence establishment, are presented. Then we analyze the selected texts, taking as a theoretical basis the "strata" that, according to Bronckart, compose the "textual foliage", taking into account the contributions coming from linguistic areas mentioned above, as well, in order to gather evidences that there is "too much" of "normal" in our subjects's written productions. Lexical-syntactic and properly graphic aspects of the data are also risen and compared to those that appear in data produced by children from regular schools and to data coming from hearing deficiency and aphasia as well, trying to glimpse features, at a time, related to more punctual aspects of written language acquisition process in "normal" conditions and features that aproximates the written productions of our subjects to other so called "deviant writings". Finally, theoretical-methodological aspects involved in language analysis of singular subjects as ours are discussed, showing the main points or phenomena detected in our analysis and, departing from them, projecting their possible repercussions in the domain of the studies about Mental Deficiency in their various aspects. This Work denounces the still existing gap in Neurolinguistics in relation to Mental Deficiency. It is expected that a study of textual aspects of written productions of teenagers with mild and moderate Mental Deficiency and the raising of questions related to more punctual aspects of their writing may subsidize other studies in Mental Deficiency .
