Abstract: This work intends to offer a different focus on the analysis of the relationship of power at the Visigothic Spain on the initial period of the Visigothic-catholic kingdom, between the Third (589 d. C.) and the Fourth Council of Toledo (633 d. C.). The main personage of this study is the bishop Isidore of Seville (ca. 560-636 d. C), author of a vast literary work, exegetic and theological which had a strong influence on the clergy, the aristocracy and the majority of the Visigothic kings of that period. Two thematic axes (center lines) are analysed in this study: the theoretical contribution of the Sevilian bishop in the project of legitimation of the monarchy which had as principal objective the searching of the religious and political unity of the Spanish Visigothic kingdom; and one of the main consequences, the necessity of the religious conversion of those groups considered strange to the nicenian Catholicism among whom were the Jews. Every analysis is included in the Isidore's writings as well as in his religious and political conceptions which contributed to the creation of ideas which had great influence on the conciliars decisions and practices as well as on those taken by the royal power. Through Isidore's writings one can see the connection between the desired and the idealized search for political and religious unity at the Spanish Visigothic kingdom and the anti-Jewish posture developed by the Spanish Visigothic kings at the end of the VI century and the beginning of the VII century. Key words: Visigoths, Jews, Isidore of Seville, exegesis, conversion
