Abstract

Resumo: Esta dissertação tem como objetivo analisar a trajetória de crescimento da maior empresa independente de serviços de logística da América do Sul: a ALL - América Latina Logística. Com base nos principais trabalhos acerca da expansão das empresas, com destaque para a teoria do crescimento da firma de Penrose, este trabalho busca discorrer acerca da história do setor ferroviário brasileiro e do desenvolvimento do sistema de transportes vigente no qual se insere a ALL. Contextualizando o cenário no qual surge a empresa, são detalhadas as principais etapas de crescimento do grupo assim como as estratégias que propiciaram que em 16 anos de existência, a empresa progredisse de uma incipiente concessionária de transportes ferroviários do sul do Brasil para a maior empresa independente de serviços de logística da América do Sul.

Abstract: This dissertation intents to analyze the growth trajectory of the largest independent logistics services company in South America: ALL - América Latina Logística. Based on the main works concerning the expansion of enterprises, especially the theory of the growth of the firm of Penrose, this paper seeks to expound on the history of Brazilian railroad industry and the development of the actual transport system in which ALL participates. Contextualizing the scenario in which the company arises, the main steps of the group's growth are detailed as well as the strategies adopted in it's 16 years of existence, which enabled the company to progress from a fledging railways dealership company in southern Brazil to the largest independent logistics services company in South America.
