A efêmera chance de encantar o mundo : Florianópolis nas últimas décadas do Século XX

Abstract

Resumo: Nas últimas décadas do século XX, Florianópolis vivenciou um amplo crescimento populacional que teve profundas consequências na sua organização social e urbana. Esse movimento foi interpretado de diversas maneiras o que ocasionou o surgimento de diferentes representações sobre o período. Essa tese se ocupa basicamente em contrastar duas representações sobre as transformações acontecidas em Florianópolis. Uma primeira criada a partir da seleção de estatísticas, dados censitários, econômicos e sociais, e de argumentos presentes em uma bibliografia especializada. E, uma segunda, produzida por cronistas e colunistas de variedades do município a partir das seleções que realizavam diante dos acontecimentos que observavam. O objetivo geral do trabalho é perceber eventuais disparidades entre as duas representações e identificar possíveis pontos de convergência. Para a realização desse objetivo, foram escritos três capítulos. O primeiro pretende demonstrar a radicalidade da transformação sociocultural e urbana acontecida em Florianópolis na segunda metade do século XX. No capítulo 2, é examinada uma das mais importantes representações surgidas na imprensa e presente nas crônicas e colunas de variedades: aquela em que essa cidade surge dividida entre florianopolitanos e migrantes. Por fim, o terceiro capítulo se centra na identificação das principais preocupações manifestadas pelos cronistas e colunistas de variedades de Florianópolis a partir da década de 1970.

Abstract: At the end of the 20th century, Florianópolis experienced a large population growth that had deeper consequences on their social and urban organization. This phenomena was interpreted in various ways, which caused the emergence of different representations of the period. This thesis is concerned primarily in contrasting two representations of the transformations happened last century in Florianópolis. The first one is created from the selection of statistics, census data, economic and social data and specific bibliography. The second representation is produced by writers and columnists of Florianópolis from their comments about some events they observed. The overall goal of this work is to realize any disparities between the two representations and identify possible points of convergence. In order to achieve this goal, there were written three chapters. The first one aims to demonstrate the radicality of the socio-cultural and urban transformation happened in Florianópolis in the second half of the twentieth century. In chapter 2 is considered one of the most important representations in the press, wich is also present in chronicles and columns of variety. This representation shows how the city appears divided between the people who were born in Florianópolis and the people who came from other states. Finally, the third chapter focuses on identifying the major concerns expressed by writers and columnists of variety of Florianópolis from the 1970s.
