Abstract: The objective of this dissertation has been to verify the presence of the eggs of the Toxocara ssp. On the ground of logradouros públicos in Curitiba, Pr., which has 282 reacreational areas, including jardinetes (small squares), parks and squares in 68 sections of the city. In January and February of 1994 and in January and Februaiy of 1995, 400 samples were collected and studied. These samples included 200 samples of soil and 200 samples of excrement of dogs and cats deposited on the ground of 20 public areas, which were draun after the division of the city in four quadrantes. The samples of the soil have been collected from five different places in each recreational areas, one in the center and one from each of the extremeties 1.250 g (0.250 kg per sample). The samples of dogs and cats deposited on the ground have been collected around playgrounds, amounting to 5 samples per public area. The samples of the soil and of the excrements have been examined in a laboratory according to the techniques described by WILLIS and by HOFFMANN, PONS and JANER, in optical microscope.
