Relações raciais em livros didáticos de ciências

Abstract

Resumo: Na presente pesquisa foram analisadas relações raciais em amostra de livros didáticos de Ciências voltados para as séries finais do ensino fundamental, distribuídos pelo PNLD de 2008 e 2011. Considerando as pesquisas sobre as relações raciais no Brasil, sobre livros didáticos como instrumentos curriculares e documentos oficiais sobre o Programa Nacional de Livros Didáticos (PNLD), a pesquisa buscou responder ao seguinte problema: que formas de hierarquização racial, especialmente entre brancos (as) enegros (as), são observadas em amostra de livros didáticos de ciências distribuídos pelo PNLD nos anos de 2008 e 2011? As pesquisas sobre o tema centram-se principalmente em livros de História e Língua Portuguesa e apontam que as mudanças nos discursos racistas foram relativamente tênues na última década. Por outro lado os editais do PNLD de 2008 e de 2011 incorporaram as prescrições legais do artigo 26ª da LDB, da Resolução 01/04 e do Parecer 03/04 do CNE, podendo ter repercutido em mudanças nos livros didáticos. Foram submetidos á análise de conteúdo as ilustrações de 11 livros didáticos de ciências, distribuídos pelo PNLD de 2008 e 2011. Definimos trabalhar com os livros destinados à 7ª série (8º ano) em função do conteúdo, via de regra abordando o corpo humano. Foram identificados 410 personagens brancos e 89 personagens negros nas ilustrações dos livros. Apesar da sub-representação de personagens negros foram identificadas diversas formas de valorização de tais personagens nas ilustrações, associando negros a contextos e atividades diversas, apresentando personagens em situação favorável e em relações familiares e apresentando personagens negros como representantes da espécie humana, rompendo com a branquidade normativa.

Abstract: In the present study were examined race relations in a sample of Science textbooks aimed at the upper grades of elementary school, distributed by PNLD 2008 and 2011.Considering the research on race relations in Brazil on textbooks and curriculum instruments and official documents and on the Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLB), the research sought to answer the following problem: what forms of racial hierarchy, especially among white (s) and black (s) are observed in a sample of science textbooks distributed by the PNLB in the years 2008 and 2011? The research on the topic mainly focus on history books and Portuguese Language and indicate that changes in racist discourses were relatively thin in the last decade. On the other hand the edicts of the PNLB, 2008 and 2011 to incorporate the legal requirements of Article 26th of the LDB, Resolution 01/04 and Parecer 03/04 of the CNE, which may have influenced changes in textbooks. Were subjected to content analysis of 11 illustrations of science textbooks distributed by PNLD 2008 and 2011. We set to work with the books for the 7th grade (8 years) depending on the content, as a rule addressing the human body. We identified 410 white characters and 89 black characters in the illustrations of books. Despite the under-representation of black characters were identified different forms of recovery of such characters in the illustrations, linking blacks to different contexts and activities, featuring characters in a favorable situation and family relationships and featuring black characters as representatives of the human species, disrupting the normative whiteness.
