Usos cotidianos do parentesco espiritual : Curitiba na transição do Século XVII para o XVIII

Abstract

Resumo: A historiografia encarregada dos estudos sobre a história da família no Brasil colônia vem apontando algumas estratégias utilizadas pela elite para a manutenção de seu local social. Dentre as mais usuais estão as alianças matrimoniais, o pertencimento ao círculo de vereança local, o acúmulo de bens materiais advindos tanto do comércio quanto da posse de escravos indígenas e africanos e a consolidação de laços de compadrio. Quando se analisa os assentos paroquiais de batismo, é possível observar que os vínculos espirituais delineados a partir do compadrio, acabam então, por reforçar ou realinhar essas teias sociais entre os indivíduos. Uma vez que, nesse período, a referência social ao indivíduo está sempre ligada ao pertencimento a um grupo maior, no caso sua família, este "parentesco espiritual" constituía uma das formas mais significativas de firmar vínculos, seja por interesses políticos e econômicos, seja para reafirmar laços de sangue já existentes. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho consiste em explorar as virtualidades desse tipo de documentação, bem como verificar a extensão, a qualidade e as possibilidades das redes de compadrio firmadas entre as primeiras famílias que se estabeleceram na região do planalto curitibano, no final do século XVII e início do XVIII, com ênfase nos arranjos do parentesco espiritual estabelecidas pelo casal Antonio Luiz Tigre e Anna Rodrigues França e suas famílias.

Abstract: The historiography in charge of the studies about the family’s history in colonial Brazil is pointing out some strategies used by the elite to maintain their social site. Among the most common are the matrimonial alliances, the belonging to the local City Councilmen circle, the material goods backlog arising from both the trade market and the indigenous and African slaves possession and the godparenthood ties consolidation. When reviewing the parish seat of baptism, it is possible to observe that the spiritual bonds outlined from the godparenthood, end therefore, reinforcing or realign these social nets between the individuals. Once that, in this period, the social reference to the individual is always linked to the belonging to a larger group, in this case the family, this "spiritual kinship" was one of the most important sign of bonds, whether by political and economic interests, whether to reinforce the blood ties already existing. Accordingly, the goal of this study is to explore the potentialities of this documentation, as well as to verify the extension, the quality and the possibilities of the cronyism network firmed among the first families who settled in the plateau region of Curitiba, in the end of the 17th and early 18th centuries, emphasizing the spiritual kinship settled by the couple Antonio Luiz Tigre e Anna Rodrigues França and your familys.
