Geografia da religião : um olhar sobre as espacialidades da juventude evangélica da Assembléia de Deus

Abstract

Resumo: A Geografia, engajada no campo das ciências humanas, a longos anos vem construindo um arcabouço teórico que auxilia a refletirmos sobre a complexidade do espaço social. No entanto, o pensamento geográfico é ainda pouco explorado na compreensão de fenômenos como a religião e a juventude. É nessa articulação teórica que esse trabalho procura contribuir. A religião na perspectiva do filósofo Ernst Cassirer pode ser entendida como uma forma simbólica, uma propriedade da consciência que projeta e dá sentido ao universo dos fatos vivido pelo indivíduo. Perguntamo-nos então, quais os sentidos que plasmam a realidade de uma juventude que se apropria dessa forma simbólica? O jovem que preenche de significado o seu mundo, a partir da forma simbólica religião, constrói um habitus religioso que o diferencia das demais juventudes que habitam a cidade. Procurando entender o universo simbólico desse grupo juvenil, utilizamos a metodologia de observação participante e nos envolvemos no mundo linguístico construído pelo discurso da Igreja Evangélica Pentecostal Assembleia de Deus, na cidade de Guarapuava/PR. Partindo do material empírico, obtido nas observações, procuramos identificar quais espacialidades são produzidas, a partir do discurso religioso, nas vidas de uma juventude evangélica pentecostal.

Abstract: The Geography, engaged in the field of human sciences, the long years has been building a theoretical framework that helps to reflect on the complexity of social space. However, the geographical thought is still little explored in the understanding of phenomenon such as religion and youth. It is this theoretical articulation that this paper seeks to contribute. The religion in the perspective of the philosopher Ernst Cassirer can be understood as a symbolic form, a property of consciousness that designs and gives meaning to the universe of events experienced by the individual. We ask then, what the senses that shapes the reality of a youth who appropriates this symbolic form? The young man who fills his world of meaning from the symbolic form of religion, religious build a habitus which differentiates it from other youths who live in the city. Trying to understand the symbolic universe of youth group, we use the methodology of participant observation and we engage in linguistic world constructed by the discourse of the Evangelical Pentecostal Assembeia de Deus Church in the city of Guarapuava/PR. Based on empirical data obtained in the observations, we sought to identify which spatialities are produced from the religious discourse in the life of a Pentecostal evangelical youth.
