A Comida em cena : uma análise da relação entre história e cinema a partir de Estômago, o filme (2007)

Abstract

Resumo: Estômago é um longa-metragem ítalo-brasileiro de Marcos Jorge, lançado em 2007. Ele narra, basicamente, a "ascensão social" de um retirante, devido ao seu talento como cozinheiro, sendo eleito enquanto fonte de análise por privilegiar a questão da comida na totalidade da obra. Assim, a pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar a relação entre o cinema e a comida - considerada uma categoria histórica, pois não se restringe ao valor nutricional, mas abarca relações sociais e de poder, culturas, símbolos. Tal categoria está também presente em uma série de outras obras fílmicas que, a partir, sobretudo, do final da década de oitenta, se prestam ao mesmo enfoque culinário, possibilitando a confecção de um gênero cinematográfico específico. Isso reitera o questionamento para perceber as principais características dos hábitos alimentares na sociedade em que o filme Estômago se insere. Por ter sido engendrado no contexto recente da indústria cinematográfica nacional, ele nos convida, ainda, a investigar as condições sociais de produção do filme. Entendendo, então, o cinema enquanto construção humana (um bem de consumo simbólico embebido no imaginário da conjuntura em que é gestado), compete demonstrar a relação entre o filme e a sociedade que o produz e consome, entre cinema e história.

Abstract: Estômago: a gastronomic story is a Marcos Jorge's Italian-Brazilian feature-length FILM, released in 2007. It shows, basically the "upward social mobility" of a migrant, due to his talent as a cook and was elected a source of analysis focus because of the issue of the food in the whole presentation. So, the research aims to investigate the relationship between cinema and food - considered a historical category, because it is not restricted to nutritional value, but includes social and power relationships, culture, symbols. This category is also present in a range of other cinematic works that, from, above all, the end of the eighties, provides the same culinary focus, enabling the production of a specific film genre. This reiterates the issue to understand the main features of the eating habits in the society in which the film Estômago: a gastronomic story is part of. By having been engendered in the context of recent national film industry, he invites us also to investigate the social conditions of production of the film. Understanding, then, the film as a human construct (a commodity embedded in the symbolic imaginary of the context in which it is developed), it demands to show the relationship between the film and the society that produces and consumes it, between cinema and history.
