Abstract: During the 20th century, historiography devoted himself earnestly to examine the brazilian city constructed by portuguese people. This profusion of studies, however, not reflects a range of perspectives. Rather, the object is almost always the same: the way city – the discussion of the regularity or otherwise of the road layout. We propose a new perspective on the issue, with the development of a methodology aimed to reconstruct the spatial distribution of residents in colonial towns in Brazil from crossing multiple sources, especially Décima Urbana e as Listas Nominativas. As a test study, we analyzed the way the nhabitants of three towns of colonial Brazil – Paranaguá, Antonina Curitiba – produced its own logic of spatial organization in the early nineteenth century. In short, we sought to understand what were the relations between the local urban housing and the condition of the residents, taking as parameter socio-economic that characterized them (color, occupation, number of slaves, the Board positions, position in militia, etc.).
