Mutações no mundo do trabalho : a concepção de trabalho de jovens pobres

Abstract

Resumo: A presente tese tem o objetivo de estudar a maneira como jovens pobres encaram o trabalho, no contexto das grandes transformações que se processam na organização da produção e do trabalho, mas também nas suas manifestações culturais, e que têm na revolução tecnológica informacional o seu motor propulsor. Foram utilizados o questionário e a entrevista semi-estruturada como instrumentos de pesquisa e privilegiou-se fundamentalmente as temáticas sócio-econômica, da qualificação e do trabalho, conjugando abordagens ora dedutivas, ora indutivas. A análise, de cunho qualitativo, centrou-se na qualidade dos trabalhos realizados, nas dificuldades para entrar no mercado de trabalho e nas estratégias de resistência que constroem. Aos jovens pobres, e de baixa qualificação, restam os trabalhos caracterizados pela precariedade: informais, temporários, intermitentes e de baixa remuneração. Desejam trabalhar, mas querem um trabalho que não lhes roube a vida e que faça sentido. Entretanto, exploram a dimensão instrumental do trabalho como meio para garantir a fruição da vida. Eles vivem uma situação paradoxal em relação ao seu futuro: em termos estruturais, reinam pessimismo e incertezas; pessoalmente, mostram-se otimistas e nada resignados.

Abstract: The present paper aims to study how poor young people face work, not only in the context of the enormous transformations which take place in the organization of production and labor, but also in their cultural manifestations, impelled mainly by the technological revolution of information. The instruments of the research were the questionnaire and the semi-structured interview, in order to investigate mainly the social- economical aspects of the qualification and of labor, combining deductive and inductive approaches. The analysis, of qualitative type, was focused on the quality of the work they undertake, their difficulties to enter in the labor market and the strategies they build to resist them. The poor and ill-qualified young population is faced with the most precarious work positions: informal, temporary, discontinuous and low-paid jobs. They want to work, but would rather have an occupation that makes sense and do not take away their life. However, they explore the instrumental aspect of work as a means to be able to enjoy life. They live a paradox concerning the future: they express pessimism and uncertainty as far as the structural perspectives, but also show optimism and non- resignation.
