Abstract: The work presented here aims to be a research on the cross-linguistic transfer process based on the Generative Grammar principles, taking into account the amplitude of the students' perceptions over the possible choices for supplying the object position within the English language context of learning. Based upon information about the different kinds of access to Universal Grammar, studies focused on the age as an important element in language learning and data about the grammatical influences of the students' native language structure over the target language, this study tries to identify the main elements involved in the expression of transfer within the linguistic behavior of mature learners in a formal learning context. For this purpose, this research analyzed the written production of undergraduate students in different levels of English language learning, based on the data collected both through a testing tool and through free compositions, in order to identify, according to the corpus so established, the many pronominal possibilities in the object position, showing that the access to the Universal Grammar may be recognized as a complementary phenomenon to the occurrence of the crosslinguistic transfer process within the acquisition context focused in this study.
