Abstract: There are several theories which try to explain the behavioral of the real wages, among such the wage curve models are highlighted, the wages bargain models and the models in which real wage and employment are defined on account of international competition. From them, it is found the following explanatory relations: the unemployment rate has reverse relation to the level of real wages; the labor productivity affect positively this variable and the exchange rate movements bring forth impacts on the distribution of the national income, causing affect on the real wages. This work deals with these relations through an experiential study to Latin America within 1980 and 2005 the idea was to put into test, aggregated data and using the panel approach, these theoretical relations. The results sugest that the exchange rates were meaningful, however, it had low impact on the salaries. The unemployment rate was meaningful and the earnings from productivity in the period were not really extended to the real wages of the countries in the region.
