Abstract

Resumo: Esta pesquisa teve o intuito de averiguar a relação de uso que os estudantes de 5a a 8a séries mantêm com o computador e a internet na escola e como esta relação modifica suas representações sociais sobre a mesma. Portanto, fez-se uso do estudo das representações sociais de um grupo, a fim de entender a forma que ele percebe o mundo e suas relações. Utilizamos a metodologia quantitativa com a aplicação de um questionário com perguntas abertas e fechadas, para pontuar as categorias percebidas pelos estudantes em relação à escola e à informática. Após a realização da pesquisa, observamos que a maioria dos alunos utilizam o computador e a internet como um instrumento de estudo, diversão e comunicação. O estudo é muito mais focalizado na escola, enquanto o entretenimento e a comunicação desenvolve-se em casa. Destacando que na escola o seu uso é restrito aos trabalhos escolares, havendo uma abertura para o entretenimento e a comunicação no uso doméstico. Concluímos que a escola é para os alunos uma instituição importante para o ensino, porém ela necessita atualizar suas técnicas de trabalho para que os alunos sintam-se motivados à aprender

Abstract: This research set ouí ío examine how 5th to 8th grade students use computers and the internet in school and how it modifies their social representations of this educational institution. Therefore, we made use of the social representations of a specific group in order to understand the perception it has of the world and the relationship it maintains with it. We used the quantitative method, providing the students with a questionnaire made up of open and closed questions, to distinguish the categories identified by the students in relation to both school and Computer. Having carried out this research, we observed that most of the students use computers and the web as instruments of study, leisure and communication. The study function is mainly utilized at school, whereas leisure and communication functions are developed at home. We pointed out that at school, the use the students make of both computers and the internet is restricted to schoolwork, whereas its use as a recreation and communication tool is left for domestic purposes. We concluded that for students, school is an important institution as far as instruction is concerned. However, schools need to modernize their work techniques in order for students to feel motivated to study
