Abstract: Antimetabolities as adjunctive in glaucoma surgery has allowed better results in surgeries with poor prognosis. This study analysed the ability of citarabin (AraC) and mitomycin to reduce the wound healing in rabbit eyes. Fourty-eight eyes of 24 rabbits were equaly divided into two groups. In each group the placebo was aplied in one eye and the antimetabolic agent in the other The eyes were enucleated on the 1st, 7th, 30th postoperative days. No significant difference was found between the groups. This study indicated that Citarabin can delay the wound healing in rabbit eyes.
