Agência, entendimento e (re)construção de si : narrativas de mulheres trans residentes no Estado do Paraná

Abstract

Resumo: A presente pesquisa teve, como finalidade, compreender como se dá o processo de entendimento de si, de agência e de (re)construção de si e de corpos, por mulheres transexuais residentes no Estado do Paraná. Foi a partir da narrativa de tais mulheres, que se construiu o problema de pesquisa, qual seja, compreender a vivência e as estratégias utilizadas para o entendimento e (re)construção de si, e se, o que elas almejam, é a inserção na matriz binária heteronormativa ou outras formas de existir. Para tanto, foram apresentados percursos históricos-científicos que se referem tanto à criação da pessoa transexual, iniciando pelo hermafrodita e pelo corpo dimórfico, quanto foi realizada a aproximação e interpretação de tais textos a partir das narrativas de mulheres travestis e transexuais. Ainda, partindo dos estudos de gênero e da perspectiva das teorias feministas pós-estruturalistas, buscou-se compreender as narrativas das mulheres transexuais, por ampla pesquisa bibliográfica e de campo que nortearam a metodologia de análise qualitativa aplicada para a conclusão deste trabalho. A pesquisa de campo se deu por entrevistas semiestruturadas, com sete mulheres transexuais residentes no Estado do Paraná. Da conclusão da pesquisa em campo, foram estabelecidas as categorias analíticas utilizadas para a sua análise, quais sejam, o entendimento de si, o nome, a passabilidade e a melancolia de gênero. Referidas categorias foram objeto de investigação, a partir, em especial, dos escritos de Judith Butler, Michel Foucault, Paul Preciado e Donna Haraway. Notou-se, quando da conclusão da pesquisa, que, as mulheres entrevistadas, fazem uso de estratégias reflexivas que lhes permitem existir e reconstruir seus corpos e vivências no interior da matriz de sexo-gênero binária heteronormativa. Verificou-se, ainda, que a escolha e a retificação de seus nomes e gênero, em suas certidões de nascimento e em documentos emitidos pelo Estado, confere-lhes um maior sentimento de pertencimento e existência perante a sociedade e ao aparato burocrático estatal. Muitas das mulheres entrevistadas, expuseram que a retificação de seus documentos de identificação, aliada à realização de procedimentos estéticos e ao uso de roupas, acessórios, maquiagens e ornamentos que se conectam à estética do universo feminino, acabou por lhes permitir uma maior passabilidade e aceitação em seus locais de convívio social, familiar e de busca por assistência junto ao Estado. Aliada à essa busca por passabilidade, percebeu-se, a partir de suas narrativas, o que Butler chama de melancolia de gênero, uma vez que, algumas delas reconhecem que pretendem atingir um grau de feminilidade que sequer existe entre as mulheres cis, ou seja, um ideal-imagético de sexo e gênero inatingível, porque criado e presente na esfera da idealização. Como conclusão, notou-se que há, a partir das suas narrativas, uma grande dificuldade em imaginar a possibilidade de entendimento e reconstrução de si para além do binarismo de gênero, o que não retira o potencial de agência transformadora e reflexiva que orienta suas vidas e existência, visto que elas denunciam a falácia da ordem natural estabelecida entre sexo e gênero.

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to understand how the process of self-understanding, agency and (re)construction of bodies and the self takes place by transsexual women residing in the State of Paraná. It was from the transexual women's narrative, that the research problem was constructed, which is, to understand the experience and the strategies used to understand and (re)construct themselves by such women, and if, what they aspire to, it is the insertion into the heteronormative binary matrix or other ways of existing. In order to do so, historical-scientific paths were presented regarding both to the creation of the transsexual person, starting with the hermaphrodite and the dimorphic body, as well as the approximation and interpretation of such texts from the narratives of transvestites and transsexual women. Also, based on gender studies and the perspective of poststructuralist feminist theories, we sought to understand the narratives of transsexual women, carrying out extensive bibliographic and field research that guided the qualitative analysis methodology applied to the conclusion of this work. The research field was based on semi-structured interviews with seven transsexual women that lives in the State of Paraná. From the conclusion of the research field, the analytical categories used for its analysis were established, namely, self-understanding, name, passability and gender melancholy. These categories were the object of investigation, based in particular on the writings of Judith Butler, Michel Foucault, Paul Preciado and Donna Haraway. It was noted, at the conclusion of the research, that the women I talked to, make use of reflexive strategies that allow them to exist and rebuild their bodies and experiences within the heteronormative binary sex-gender matrix. It was also found that, even if the choice and rectification of their names and gender, in their birth certificates and in documents issued by the State, it gives them a greater sense of belonging and existence towards society and the state bureaucratic apparatus. Many women who I have interviewed, exposed that the correction of their identification documents, combined with the performance of aesthetic procedures and the use of clothes, accessories, makeup and ornaments that connect to the aesthetics of the feminine universe, ended up allowing them greater passability and acceptance in their places of work, social and family life and seeking assistance from the State. Allied to this search for an increasingly effective passability, it was verified, from their narratives, what Butler calls gender melancholy, since some of them recognize that they intend to achieve a degree of femininity that does not even exist among women, cis women, that is, an image-ideal of unattainable sex and gender, because created and present in the sphere of idealization. As a conclusion, it was noted that, from their narratives, there is a great difficulty in imagining the possibility of understanding and reconstructing oneself beyond the gender binarism, which does not remove the potential of transformative and reflective agency that guides her lives and existence, since they denounce the fallacy of the natural order established between sex and gender, that is, they materialize, in their bodies and existence, the performativity of gender.
